⚡ Do you catch your foot when walking, trip, or fall? Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) could help.

FES is a technique that uses a gentle electrical current to stimulate muscles that have been paralysed or weakened due to a neurological condition. The body naturally uses electrical signals to make muscles move — FES steps in when those signals are no longer getting through as they should, helping muscles contract and function again. 💙

At CN Rehab, our trained neurological physiotherapists use FES to help patients:

✅ Increase muscle strength and function
✅ Improve movement and range of motion
✅ Reduce pain
✅ Decrease muscle spasticity (tightness)

FES is also one of the most effective treatments available for dropped foot — a common condition in people living with long-term neurological conditions, where the foot catches the floor when walking. Rather than relying solely on a rigid plastic splint, FES works by stimulating the nerves that lift the foot, helping patients walk more easily, go further, and tackle more challenging terrain — including stairs.

David came to us in September 2025 with near-zero lower limb mobility following cancerous lesions on the vertebrae. He was unable to stand, even with a frame. Today, he can stand with ease and walk without sticks or crutches — and he continues to improve every day. 💙
