If you are interested in Dyslexia.

Have you read our new report yet?

Our latest research, A pathway interrupted, shines a light on the experiences of dyslexic young people and the barriers they face in education and beyond.

From late diagnosis and a lack of understanding in school, to reduced confidence and fewer opportunities after education, the findings show how one challenge can lead to another.

We need to change this pathway. Every young person deserves the right support to reach their full potential.

TRANSITIONS -BACK TO SCHOOL
It's that time of year SEND families dread as back to school approaches. What do school transitions mean ? They mean:
* Unpredictability
* Lack of Autonomy
* Going back to an environment not built for them
* Returning to a place they are often not understood and lack connection with people.
*It often means having a feeling of worthlessness and low self-efficacy, especially if the classroom is challenging and learning potential is diminished.
* Going in to an environment that brings massive sensory challenges.
* It brings increased stress and anxiety that activates the nervous system triggering the FIGHT/FLIGHT/FREEZE/FAWN response.
* It activates a constant state of ALERT (for both parent and child).

Getting them over the threshold at all costs is not productive in terms of learning and long term will only damage mental health and coping thresholds. Do not be deceived into thinking that compliance and conformity are signs of regulation.
