Just back from a great few days in the forestry of north wales training windblown trees. I finally got the chance to see my friend’s fantastic little forwarder in action. The alstor is designed to carry the weight but leave very little to no trace on the ground which is ideal for sensitive forestry and woodland sites.

Project iconic raffle is now live. The year long project to create 4 pieces of iconic hardware from the Arb industry all in rope. The pieces will be on display at this years APF forestry show at Ragley hall in September. For your chance to win follow the link in my bio. De-tensioning and re-tensioning of pull cord on a Stihl 261. The method shown will work on most pull cord cases for nearly any machine. This video also includes one very important check which a lot of videos don’t include, final check to make sure we have not over tensioned the internal band spring. STIHL

The first short use of the new APW 6000 portable winch after training today. Really looking forward to the potential this machine has going on how this preformed. The APW 6000 winch runs on the AP batteries from STIHL . Watch this space for more videos and info.

Part 5, in felling trees over 380mm in diameter. The tree is now on the floor, ready for processing. Highly important to always check the adjacent trees and canopies for hazards and hanging branches which could fall and strike the operator whilst processing the fallen tree. Check the tree for stability before processing, if any hazards are identified make attempts to remove the hazards before processing takes place.
