CHANGES IN DISPENSARY COMING SOON!

The practice is introducing a new process within our dispensary. This is a significant investment by the GP Partners and is not funded by the NHS. It will bring both new software and hardware and improvements for both our staff and patients.

The new software is in the process of being set up. We will update you with a go live date as soon as we have it confirmed. On the go live date there may be times when we will not be able to hand out or process prescription requests as we will not have access to patient records. If you could avoid calling into the dispensary on this day if possible, then that would be very much appreciated.

We will continue to have training over the next couple of weeks and although staff will be working extra, there may be times when there will be fewer staff than normal and we ask for your patience.

May we remind patients that we ask for a minimum of 5 WORKING DAYS from request before collection and during this changeover it will be essential that this.

With the weather set to warm up again it's very important to note the dangers of open water swimming. Don't forget this is not just the sea! 84% of open water child drownings happen inland, in places such as rivers, lakes and canals (National Child Mortality Database (NCMD) 2024 and 2025’)

This week marks Loneliness Awareness Week, a national campaign designed to break down the stigma around loneliness and encourage open, supportive conversations.

Tips of dealing with loneliness include:
- Going for a walk with a friend or family member to enjoy some fresh air and a chat (don't forget we organise a weekly walk, open to all ages. Every Tuesday at 12.30pm from Stretton Village Green. This is a great opportunity to make friends!)
- Inviting someone for a drink or coffee, it could be just what you both need to catch up and feel more connected.
- Looking into affordable local events in your area and trying something new, whether it’s a workshop or a community gathering.
- Joining a class or sports team, exercising or learning something new with others is a great way to connect.

UHCW are currently doing a bowel screening campaign highlighting the importance of completing your home test kits. If you’re sent an NHS bowel screening kit,
put it by the loo. Don’t put it off.

If you're aged 50 to 74 and registered with a GP, you'll automatically get a bowel cancer screening home test kit (FIT kit) through the post every 2 years. If you do not get your results within 2 weeks, you can call the free bowel cancer screening helpline on 0800 707 6060.
