Some days I have no idea how to live the life I want to live. On those days - or on the better of those days, at least - I try to do one thing aligned to that life.

Today, it’s taking my harvest of dried haricot beans to sit on the grass to shell. At some point most of these will be made into stews and soups and make even homemade baked beans, while some will be saved to resow next spring. For now, they’re a slow, mindful, using-my-own-two-hands task that makes use of a low-energy, sunny day.

Foraging isn’t about free food. That’s a welcome bonus, for sure, but this mindful, grateful gathering of nature’s abundance - rich even when the world is f**ked - is a connection to something deep inside me.
A sense of meaning, in a world gone mad.
An honouring of my wildness, in a world that wants to tame me.
An invitation to slowness, when the rest of the world hurtles on blindly.

Precious moments of coming back to myself. To my true nature. To true contentment.

Off on a ‘wild’ adventure of a different type this time! I’m here in France with my trusty Bear, travelling by interrail here and in Switzerland later this week.

Visiting the town in France I studied in for a year (20 years ago!), meeting up with friends in the Swiss Alps for a few days, then a couple more days by Lake Geneva by myself. Haven’t travelled like this for years and I LOVE it!

Not camping this trip but looking forward to getting a couple of mountain hikes in and a dip in a lake or two!

Petrichor. The smell of rain on hot, parched earth.

Translated, it's roughly "the fluid that runs in the veins of the gods".

A rare and much-needed shower early one morning this weekend. It barely touched the surface and of course is nowhere near enough, but for a short while it was a welcome respite from the intense heat, a reminder of the preciousness of water, and a reminder of the importance of balance.

Summer energy can be go go go, but sometimes we need to temper the fiery, yang summer energy with something more yin, some water energy of nourishment, surrender, rest.

🌿 Perhaps it's a moment of mindful connection, such as really noticing the details of the beauty around you.
🌿 Perhaps it's an evening or weekend without
screens.
🌿 Perhaps it's saying no to a social activity and curling up with a book under a shady tree instead.

What's feeling out of balance in your life right now, and what small change could you make to shift it back?

Back from a few days away offline, and oh my what heaven! Four days without emails and social media and WhatsApp, just being purely in the present moment.

How often do you give yourself that detox?

It's amazing how much headspace and energy all the tech takes up, which we don't realise until we take it away.

I love tech's ability to keep us connected, and, I'm a big believer that sometimes we need to switch off to switch back on!

I'm back this week and the focus is getting my book manuscript ready to send to the publisher ready for copy editing. It's so exciting seeing it all come together, and I'm now adding in some exquisite illustrations drawn by my wild-sister Hazel Cernuda who assists me on my one day retreats and will be assisting on BeWild, my year long programme next year.

Here's a sneak peek from the chapter for Beltane: Reigniting your fire 🔥

Did you know I used to be a mathematician?!

I have a first class degree in maths from Durham University, and trained and qualified as an actuary working in a FTSE100 financial services company before I left to embrace my coach and wild woman era!

My inner mathematician still loves to geek out on problem solving. I love getting to the root of a challenge, exploring different perspectives and spotting patterns. It’s one of the things that makes me a great coach! Weaving in wildness - our natural state and our evolutionary design - helps bring additional insight into some of the challenges clients face, and, therefore, solutions and ways to unravel the entanglements we find ourselves in.

My inner maths geek had a great time at the Escher exhibition in London yesterday, playing with perspectives and appreciating this genius artist’s play with perception. Our minds are incredible - and tricksy - things!

What’s something I might not know about you?

Wild times on Dartmoor. Topping up my wild soul!

Looking forward to a couple of nights under the stars, with hearty folk, working on the land and dipping in the stream at Moor Barton Rewilding.

Simple pleasures: raspberries picked and eaten straight from the bush ☺️

Here’s your invitation to really savour a moment today.

What’s your simple pleasure going to be?

To be a wild woman is to have a relationship with fear.

What's your relationship with fear like? Where do you find yourself holding back, not saying something, not putting yourself out there, not trying something new, or fearing life when things get hard?

We're taught at a young age to be afraid. "Be careful!"

What if instead we learned to embrace our fears. Not just of the physical, but the emotional? What if we got ok with feeling shame, or guilt, or fear, or anger, or sadness?

What might open up for you?

What might you do differently, if you weren't afraid of the outcome?

Being wild isn't just about running away to the woods. It's about showing up more courageously, more authentically, more truthfully.

Wildness is an inside job as much as it is about connecting with nature and reclaiming practical skills.

One client recently told me:

"Honestly Jen, finding my inner wild woman has really allowed me to trust myself and what I want to be happy in life. I've definitely noticed my fear dial is a lot lower this time round and today's call confirmed that I've got this. Thank you for doing what you do."

What's one small thing you could do today, to 'feel the fear and do it anyway'? Try it, and notice how much your sense of power and possibilty expands as a result.
