FLU & COVID VACCINATIONS – AUTUMN/WINTER 2026/27

We know it is still summer so it might seem a long way off but we are having a few enquiries already so please see below..

We currently have appointments available at Siam Surgery for our patients who are eligible for their flu vaccine - our first clinic is on 3RD OCTOBER, we will also be visiting our eligible housebound patients and those living in care homes in October to offer the flu vaccination. Pregnant women are able to book into sooner appointments, towards the end of September.

If you are eligible and we have COVID vaccines available when you attend for your flu vaccine you will be offered both vaccines at the same time. We are not offering appointments for COVID vaccinations only.

We will be inviting our patients either by text message with a personalised link that will allow you to book directly into our clinics online, or by phone call. You can also call our reception team to book.

As this is a few weeks away and your plans could change, we ask that you please keep a note on your calendar of any appointment that you book with us and if you need to cancel or reschedule then please do so by email to [email protected] or phone 01787 322420. If you book using the link in your text invite then you can use the same link to cancel/reschedule at any time.

For more information about flu and who is eligible for the vaccine please visit the NHS website:

We are proud to announce that we are now a host practice for GP trainees, supporting the next generation of doctors as they develop their knowledge, skills and experience in general practice.

GP trainees are qualified doctors who are undertaking specialist training to become GPs. They have completed medical school and gained experience working in hospitals and other healthcare settings before and during their GP training.

As part of their training, GP trainees spend time working in practices like ours, where they develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to provide safe, effective and compassionate care in the community.

This month, we have been joined by our very first GP trainee, Dr Peh. During her time with us, Dr Peh will be carrying out consultations and other clinical work appropriate to her stage of training, with support and supervision from our experienced GPs and the wider practice team.

We are delighted to support Dr Peh during this stage of her career and hope you will join us in wishing her a warm welcome to Siam Surgery.

Sorry for the wait 💬

This week, you may notice longer waiting times than usual when calling the surgery. We currently have very low staffing levels within our reception team. To help keep our service running, colleagues in other roles have been stepping in to answer phones and support the front desk.

So far, with very few exceptions, people have been incredibly patient, kind and understanding, despite the longer waits. It makes a huge difference to our team and is greatly appreciated.

We completely understand how frustrating it is to wait for long periods on the phone, especially when you are worried or feeling unwell. For the small number of people who find it difficult to move past this once their call has been answered, we simply ask that you remember our team are people too. They have families, lives, and responsibilities outside of work, and when they're here they're doing their very best to support you and yours. Our staff aren't an unlimited resource, and although we can't always answer every call as quickly as we'd like, we are always working as hard as we can with the team we have available.

Please bear with us over the coming days. If you are offered our call back option, we'd encourage you to use it as it saves you having to wait on hold. There are various ways you can access our services online, please see our website for further details: www.siamsurgery.co.uk.

Thank you again for your continued patience, understanding and kindness. We really do appreciate it.

Many of you have followed the journey of the application for a pharmacy at Sudbury Community Health Centre with interest over the past few years, as have we. The Health Centre is home to a range of healthcare services, which now includes Supremus Pharmacy!

We have received a few queries from our patients since its recent opening. Supremus Pharmacy is an independent pharmacy and is available for anyone to use. As with all pharmacies, people are free to choose whichever pharmacy is most convenient for them. If you would like to change your nominated pharmacy (this is who we send your prescriptions to when they are issued by the practice), you can do this via the NHS app, contacting the pharmacy directly, or by letting our team know when you request your prescriptions. You do not need to contact us separately about this.

If you have any questions about the pharmacy or the services it provides, please contact Supremus Pharmacy directly:

Protecting Privacy - Shared Responsibility

We want everyone who visits our surgery to feel comfortable, respected, and to have their privacy protected. As our reception desk is in a busy public space this can sometimes be challenging, so we really need your help.

Please respect each other by waiting behind the black and yellow line until you are invited forward by a member of our reception team. This helps give the person at the desk the space and privacy they need.

If the line is not observed, our reception team may ask you to take a step back until you are invited forward.

This also applies if our receptionist is on the phone or appears to be available. They will often be dealing with confidential patient information.

We understand this isn't always something people naturally think about so we're sharing this as a gentle reminder for your next visit.

Thank you very much for your understanding and support.

03/07/2026

To help our clinicians spend more time focusing on patients and less time typing notes, we are now using Surgery Intellect, an AI-powered note taking tool provided by the same company as our telephone system, Surgery Connect.

🔵What is Surgery Intellect?

Surgery Intellect uses ambient voice technology to help clinicians document consultations. During your appointment, it picks up on the conversation and creates a summary of the relevant clinical information discussed.

This allows your clinician to focus more on listening to you and less on making notes during the consultation.

🔵How does it work?

The system uses artificial intelligence (AI) to produce draft consultation notes and, where appropriate, clinic letters. It focuses on the information relevant to your care.

Your clinician always reviews and approves any notes before they are added to your medical record. The technology supports your clinician - it does not replace their judgement.

🔵How does this benefit patients?

Using Surgery Intellect helps us to:

- Give clinicians more time to focus on you during your appointment.
- Improve the accuracy and consistency of consultation notes.
- Reduce administrative work, allowing clinicians to spend more time on patient care.
- Produce referral letters and other documentation more efficiently where needed.

🔵Is my information safe?

Protecting your privacy is extremely important to us.

- Surgery Intellect complies with UK data protection requirements, including GDPR.
- Audio recordings are not stored.
- Your information is never used to train AI models.
- Only authorised healthcare professionals involved in your care can access your medical records.
- The system has been reviewed to ensure it meets NHS and information governance standards.

🔵Can I choose not to use it?

Yes. If you would prefer Surgery Intellect not to be used during your consultation, simply let your clinician know. This will not affect your care, and notes will be taken in the usual way.

❓Frequently Asked Questions

- Is my appointment being recorded?
No. Surgery Intellect does not store audio recordings. It creates a written transcript and clinical summary to assist with note taking.

- Will my appointment be different?
No. Your consultation will take place as normal. The technology simply helps your clinician document the discussion more efficiently.

- Can Surgery Intellect be used for telephone appointments?
Yes. It can be used for both face to face and telephone consultations.

- Can I see my consultation notes?
You may be able to view consultation notes through the NHS App, depending on the level of record access available to you.

If you have any other questions about Surgery Intellect, please speak to a member of the practice team.
