Not all laser is the same thing.

Here's what that actually means:

✨ ALEXANDRITE
Absorbed by pigment. Works closer to the surface. Well-suited for treating hair, sun spots, and pigmentation on lighter skin tones.

✨ ND:YAG
Longer wavelength, deeper reach. Travels down to target the hair follicle and its blood supply directly. Better suited to a wider range of skin tones, including darker complexions.

And thread veins? Those are treated through the vascular response to the laser, collapsing the tiny vessels so the body can clear them naturally.

Ashton Collins, Director of Save Face, is speaking out about something that genuinely worries us as a clinic: a sharp rise in suspected botulism cases and serious complications linked to fake and unlicensed products being used by people with no medical training and no authority to prescribe.

Botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine. Not a beauty product. Not something that can legally or safely be handed out without a qualified prescriber assessing you in person, at the correct dose, for your specific needs.

Ashton sets out exactly what a safe, legitimate treatment looks like, and the warning signs that should make you walk away:

- You are never seen in person by a named doctor, dentist, nurse prescriber or prescribing pharmacist
- You cannot find out which product was used or see the box and batch number
- The treatment happens in a hotel room, a home, or anywhere other than a proper clinical setting
- The price looks too good to be true

These are not minor concerns. People are ending up in hospital.
