Anyone else feeling more tired than usual lately? šŸ™‹

The darker days could be playing a part.
Your body clock relies on daylight to help regulate when you feel awake and when you feel sleepy. Right now, many of us are getting less natural light and more screen time, which isn’t always a great combination for good sleep.

As the evenings get darker, it’s natural to spend more time indoors. But bright screens can send your brain mixed signals, making it harder to switch off when bedtime comes around.

A few small habits can help support your body clock:
ā˜€ļø Get outside in daylight where you can
šŸ’” Keep lights lower in the evening
šŸ“± Try putting screens away before bed

šŸƒ School runs. šŸ“š Homework. 🤧 Sick days.

When life gets busy, it's easy for parents' own health to slip down the priority list.

So where does your health sit compared to your children's?

We took to the streets to ask parents exactly that, inviting them to place themselves on a scale and share their thoughts. The responses might feel familiar šŸ‘€

Because while caring for your family is important, looking after your own physical and mental wellbeing matters too šŸ’™

Everybody's experience of the menopause is different, and everyones experience is valid. Victoria is here to remind us that whilst it might be a challenge, the menopause shouldn't be something to be afraid of. We are wiser, stronger, and more capable because of our experiences, not in spite of them. šŸ’™

What is perimenopause? It's the stage before menopause, when your hormone levels start to change.

You might still be having periods, but your body could already be going through changes that affect your physical and mental wellbeing.

Symptoms can vary from person to person. Some people experience hot flushes, sleep problems and changes to their periods, while others notice mood changes, difficulty concentrating or what's often called 'brain fog'.

You can still get pregnant during perimenopause, so it's important to keep using contraception until your GP says it's safe to stop.

There are ways to manage symptoms too. Regular exercise, a balanced diet and finding ways to reduce stress can all help. If symptoms are affecting your daily life, treatments and support are available.

Remember: your periods don't need to have stopped for you to get help. šŸ’™

14/10/2026

What’s the best exercise to do during menopause? The answer isn’t just one thing.

Mixing up how you move can help support different parts of your health during menopause.

Cardio, like walking, cycling, swimming or dancing, gets your heart working.

Strength training, from squats and planks to lifting weights, can help build muscle and keep your bones strong

Yoga, Pilates and tai chi are great ways to work on balance and mobility.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Find movement you enjoy, mix things up and build a routine that works for you. šŸ’™

What you sent: a funny meme.
What you meant: "I'm having a tough time."

For many of us, humour feels easier than honesty. Over 50% of adults say they're fine when they're not. 34% hold back because they don't want to worry the people they love, while nearly a third stay silent because they don't want to feel like a burden.

That's why it's worth paying attention to the messages behind the messages.

Ever sent a meme, funny video or random Reel that was actually saying a lot more than it seemed? šŸ’¬

Sometimes it's easier to send a joke than admit how we're really feeling. But according to Bupa's research, 51% of adults say they're "fine" when they're not. 34% stay quiet because they don't want to worry the people they love, and 30% don't speak up because they don't want to feel like a burden.

Sometimes the things we share say more than the things we don't.

šŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸ’™ Just 2 days to go until the ASICS Manchester Half!

In our latest video, Fionnuala Geoghegan, one of our MSK physiotherapists, explains why cooling down is an important part of your training routine and how it can support your recovery as you build towards event day.

But with the hard work now done, the priority is arriving at the start line feeling your best.

That means: 😓 Resting šŸ Carb loading šŸ’§ Staying hydrated

And if you've ever needed permission to put your feet up and enjoy that extra bowl of pasta, here's your sign, straight from a physiotherapist!

Trust the training, look after yourself, and enjoy the experience on Sunday. You've got this! šŸ‘

This is health.

šŸƒā€ā™€ļø Manchester Half marathon day is almost here! If you're running this Sunday, remember that preparation can go a long way. šŸ’™

Bupa MSK physiotherapist Fionnuala shares her top tips for the big day:
āœ… Be prepared and know your pace
āœ… Stay hydrated
āœ… Most importantly, enjoy the experience

The atmosphere will be incredible, but sticking to a plan and listening to your body can help make the day feel that bit more enjoyable from start to finish. šŸ™Œ

ā˜• Last week, residents in our care homes up and down the country came together to host their own Macmillan Coffee Mornings, raising money for an incredible cause while enjoying plenty of tea, cake and great company.

From helping to bake delicious treats to sharing them with friends, family and neighbours, it was wonderful to see so many people getting involved and making memories along the way. šŸ°āœØ

Beyond raising money, the coffee mornings also provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect, socialise and spend quality time together, something that's so important for wellbeing and building a sense of community.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the events and helped raise funds.

šŸƒā€ā™€ļø Ever spent more time worrying about what to wear for a run than the run itself?

Claire remembers feeling self-conscious when she first started running, often choosing clothes that helped her blend in rather than what felt most comfortable.

Now she'd tell any new runner the same thing: wear whatever helps you feel good. Show your legs, don't show your legs, it's completely your call.

The only thing that matters is getting out there. šŸ’™

See Claire on the start line of the ASICS Manchester Half this October. šŸ™Œ

A lovely visit from zoo lab this morning. We saw a giant African land snail, a giant cockroach, a tarantula and a lovely corn snake called Stripe. All the residents enjoyed holding and touching all the animals. We had loads of interesting information given with each animal. Ron said, ā€œthis made a nice changeā€.
