We mentioned before about an upcoming challenge for Sheila...
..Well…

Today we can reveal that Sheila is facing the wonderful and scary challenge of riding a 900cc Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro (Sheila is pictured on one below) as part of a motorcycle tour around British Columbia in Canada.

Sheila who faced a fear of learning to ride a motorbike following a mental health talk that she delivered to the Lichfield Advanced Motorcyclists' group, back in October 2021 - to inspire the audience to watch her video on su***de prevention - had only planned to pass the CBT!

Along with getting great views for her su***de prevention video, she was surprised when she overcame her fear of riding a motorbike, and how much she enjoyed riding one too!
This led her to achieve a full bike licence, and to then pass her advance riding test last year.

Now she’s planning to put her skills to the test as she prepares to ride through the Rocky mountains, towards Banff, down the Kootenay Highway, passing by the Skookumchuck River and towards Fort Steele heritage town - which Sheila’s told is an old west town that could be straight out of a cowboy western movie set!

As part of this tour, Sheila will ride from prairies to glaciers and mountains, to lake country, and through desert!
She will be travelling with her husband Mark, along with other friends Andy and Julie, and is looking forward to riding as part of Canadian Motorcycle Adventure Tours and making new friends.

“Incredible,” “wonderful,” “inspiring” and “thought provoking.”

Following on from Sheila’s talk last Wednesday at Fiction and Fairy Lights in Hednesford, she is continuing to receive wonderful feedback.

And they all attest to Sheila’s aim of turning pain into power with her two published books, ‘The Power of knowing You,’ and ‘Behind Closed Doors’.

Here’s a selection of the feedback that's been flooding in to Sheila:

• “I was at yesterday’s talk and all I can say is wow. It was very thought provoking and uplifting. Yesterday was good to hear so thank you, resonated a lot with things you were saying.”

• “It was a total honour to have you! What an incredible evening.”

• “What a wonderful evening. So much positivity from painful times.”

• “What an inspiring and thought provoking evening Sheila. You certainly held my attention, listening to you share your story.”

You can purchase both of Sheila’s books and find out more about her services by visiting her website: www.mindmanagementforyou.com

“Turning pain into power.”
That’s what last night was all about.
And wow — what a turnout!

Thank you to everyone who packed out Hednesford’s Fiction and Fairy Lights bookstore for my sold-out book reading.
Together we laughed, we cried, we sang, and we connected.
It was an absolute honour to share extracts from both of my books, The Power of Knowing You and Behind Closed Doors, and the response from people of all ages was truly wonderful.

We shared some deeply honest moments as we reflected on the experiences that shape us - both painful and empowering.
We explored where beliefs come from, the importance of humour and how it can help heal, and how creativity can become a lifeline.
We even joined together in song, including renditions of 'Stand By Me' and 'What’s Up?'
And for the first time, I also read aloud a section from The Power of Knowing You, written from a child’s perspective.

Thank you again to everyone who came along and helped make the evening so special.

A huge thank you to Fiction and Fairy Lights owner, fellow author Kim Nash, and her brilliant team for championing local voices and for creating such a welcoming space where stories can be shared with warmth and honesty.

Here are 5 reasons that answer the question of 'Why?'

As the countdown continues to my event at Fiction and Fairy Lights bookstore in Hednesford this Wednesday (June 10), I'd like to share 5 reasons why the £3 entry fee could be one of the best investments you make this month – that will reap benefits that extend far beyond the evening itself.

But you’ll need to be quick not to miss out.....As bookstore owner, Kim Nash, was delighted to confirm this morning that ticket sales have gone so well that only 4 remain!

Now back to the 5 reasons 'Why?'

1. You'll hear a powerful story for the first time.

At the start of my first book, ‘The Power of Knowing You’, I share my story from a child's perspective. For the first time, I'll be reading this aloud at the event.

2. You'll gain a deeper understanding of mental health.

Whether you're a parent, business owner, HR professional, leader, or simply someone who cares about others, understanding mental health matters. Drawing on 20 years of professional experience, I'll share insights to help you better understand and support those around you.

3. I'll help you challenge the beliefs that hold people back.

Many people struggle with feelings of not being good enough, putting everyone else's needs before their own, or experiencing imposter syndrome despite their success. I'll explore where these beliefs come from and how they can be overcome.

4. You'll be supporting a local independent business.

By attending, you'll also be supporting Fiction and Fairy Lights, Hednesford's new independent bookstore, which is a fantastic addition to the community.

5. It's set to be enjoyable as well as informative.

The evening will include stories, poetry, songs, humour, honest conversation, and an opportunity to purchase signed copies of my books, ‘The Power of Knowing You’ and ‘Behind Closed Doors’.

The event will be held this Wednesday, on June 10, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

What really makes us happy?

That’s the topic of focus in the latest episode of my Counsellor Convos series, which sees me chatting with proud Brummie Phil Oldershaw

In this new YouTube podcast, I chat to Phil, who is a radio broadcaster, DJ, MC, and Birmingham Pride founder, about a host of subjects from identity, including the importance of accents, friendship, connections, and why socialising matters more than ever, to the negatives and positives of positivity.

You can listen to it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VcqCJodWg0&t=2s, but if you get a chance to watch it, you’ll see Phil doing his jazz hands (which is a great example of non-verbal communication in action!).

Folks, this is a great conversation, in which Phil also reflects on his connection to Birmingham, his career with BRMB, his love of travel and meeting people, and why businesses should encourage stronger social connections in the new age of homeworking.

I’d really encourage you to listen to this podcast as we cover so much, including the importance of emotional health and how internal narratives play a role in both our well-being and relationships.

It’s new, and it’s out now.

Sheila’s latest podcast is now live, and it sees her in conversation with the BRMB Radio broadcaster Phil Oldershaw, who hosts a Saturday morning show on the Birmingham-based radio station.

As well as talking about mental health in general, other topics that the pair also chat about together include the positive and negative sides of being positive.

Sheila said: “In the podcast, we discuss what makes you happy and other topics of being real, connection, purpose, making comparisons, and loneliness, amongst other great topics.”

You can find the new podcast on Sheila’s YouTube channel as part of her Counsellor Convos series here https://youtu.be/3VcqCJodWg0?si=JwX7MjkZ3cvPqjxU
