🌞 Heatwave Alert – Stay Safe in the Hot Weather 🌞
The UK is expected to experience very high temperatures over the coming days. While many people enjoy warm weather, heatwaves can pose serious health risks, particularly for older adults, babies and young children, pregnant women, and people with long-term health conditions.
According to the NHS, the main risks during a heatwave are dehydration, overheating, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke.
✅ Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids
✅ Keep out of direct sunlight, especially between 11am and 3pm
✅ Wear loose, light-coloured clothing and a hat when outdoors
✅ Keep your home cool by closing curtains, blinds during the day and using electric fans.
✅ Check on vulnerable family members, friends, and neighbours.
Seek urgent medical help if someone develops symptoms of heatstroke, such as confusion, loss of consciousness, a very high temperature, or remains unwell after cooling down and drinking fluids.
Please stay safe during the hot weather.
Where suitable, we are able to offer telephone consultations to reduce the need for patients to travel during periods of extreme heat.
