Today we had the privilege of bidding farewell to Paul Alan McCumisky, known to many simply as ‘Paddy’.
On one of the hottest days of the year, Booths provided a prestige fleet consisting of a hearse and two limousines to return Paddy home before his final journey to Bretby Crematorium.
As we arrived beneath the canopy at the Cedar Service Room, family and friends lined both sides, standing proudly together to show their love, respect and admiration for a man who meant so much to so many.
Family bearers lovingly guided Paddy into the chapel for a truly fitting service, beautifully led by Celebrant Lisa Sharpe.
His racing helmet, racing colours and floral tributes adorned his final resting place, while a touching visual tribute and heartfelt words from his son, John, painted a wonderful picture of the gentleman, family man and friend that Paddy was.
A special thank you goes to the drivers. Despite the soaring temperatures, they carried out their duties with professionalism, dignity and unwavering care throughout the day.
Thank you also to Katie, at Sweetpeas whose beautiful floral tributes looked stunning despite the challenge of working with fresh flowers in such extreme heat.
Following the service, family and friends gathered at one of Paddy's favourite watering holes, the Colvile Arms.
Our Director Helen made sure Paddy was there in spirit too, with his own seat reserved, his favourite pint of Pedigree served in his own glass, alongside his racing helmet and photograph, a simple but meaningful tribute to a man who will never be forgotten.
Rest easy, Paddy. Keep your foot firmly on the floor as you race that highway to heaven... or perhaps, as you would have preferred, the “Highway to Hell” 🏁🍺
Our thoughts are with all of Paddy's family, friends and his racing community this evening.
God speed, Paddy 99 💙💛
