We had some really good news today at The Paddocks.

On Sunday we went into town for the Norfolk Royal British Legion- Rededication of County Standard.

What a lovely service 🩷, feeling part of something, listening to readings from the bible, singing hymes and saying the Lords Prayer as a congregation 🤗.

Afterwards strolling to the Assembly Rooms to listen the Norwich Pipe Band 🎵, which we recorded to bring back and show some residents who you know have a love for all things pipes 😀.

We have begun using consent and emotion cards with some of our residents to support them with sharing their consent to engage with us and share emotions before and during activities.

This has allowed residents without a voice to be heard and feel heard, increasing their engagement and know they are valued for being them. 💝

📩 It isn't every day that you receive a letter from Buckingham Palace!

Back in May, our residents took part in a creative Pointillism art project to celebrate Great Britain Day. Inspired by their wonderful artwork, we decided to write to His Majesty The King and share copies of the residents' royal-themed prints.

We were delighted to receive a response from James Dawson, Head of Royal Correspondence, on behalf of The King. Knowing that His Majesty takes the time to review correspondence sent to him made this recognition even more special for everyone involved.

Five residents participated in the activity, and they were absolutely thrilled to receive the letter. Copies of the correspondence, alongside their artwork, now take pride of place in both the Activity Room and the residents' bedrooms, serving as a lasting reminder of this memorable achievement.

The impact on our residents has been truly heartwarming:

"I feel honoured. I've never had anything like this happen in my life. I'm so humbled and absolutely chuffed. I'm in awe." – Mr C

Mr C was particularly proud of the artwork he created and, with lots of encouragement, embraced the project wholeheartedly. Seeing the smile on his face says it all.

"I was really chuffed. It was so lovely to receive a response." – Mrs B

Moments like these remind us how meaningful creativity, connection and recognition can be, and how small acts can create memories that last a lifetime 💖

This morning we made cupcakes 🧁🧁ensuring all would have a choice of either vanilla or chocolate treats for later today 😋!

The residents on Sandpiper mixed the ingredients together 🥣 and the residents on Kingfisher completed the task by ensuring the cases had the right amount of mixture for each case 👨‍🍳, it was a fantastic team effort 🤗.

Some more photos from our visit to Haspels Road MUGA (Multi Use Games Area)

Not only did we give the area a much needed clean 🫧🧼, we made some new friends 🤗, made new memories 💖 and even acquired a new style of hat ☂️ but mainly the laughter 😅to be heard from all involved was defiantly the highlight of the day.

This morning as planned we headed off up to the Haspels Road MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) to give it a much needed clean 🫧🧼.

This had been arranged following Kelly’s visit to The Paddocks back in June and speaking to the residents and being part of making Swaffham a nicer place to live 💖.

Altogether there were 9 who came together, two volunteers, two young gents from Swaffham Council as well as Kelly (founder of Swaffham Gaudians), Becca, Ron, Angela and I.

With a little bit of help and some sponges 🧽🧽 we began cleaning the game boards and not forgetting feeling part of a team in our community whilst having a good ole laugh.

We look forward to the future plans include gardening 🤗.

What a wonderful time our resident, family and friends had here at The Paddocks at our BBQ!! 🍖,

The garden was bright and ready to party 🎊🎊 for a morning of entertainment and food.

The rainstorm ⛈️ helped refresh us all, using our canopies to shield the weather, we carried on listening to Rob sing 🎤from the raised mezzanine to all the old classics including Singing In The Rain which was very apt for the weather in that moment, however the sun did come out and shine for us. 🌞.

Georgina gave a small speech to everyone about Cinita becoming the Registered Manager for our home, and Denise presented Cinita with flowers 💐and a card, staff and residents showed their joy for Cinita which was shown with a party canon 🎉🎉 in the garden and what a bang it made too.

We all appreciate that Cinita has made such a difference since being at The Paddocks and it has been noticed by so many and we look forward to continuing on this positive pathway as a team 🤗

Following our surprise for Cinita, we all enjoyed a BBQ with hot dogs 🌭, burger 🍔, salad 🥗 and other yummy food, followed by desserts. Many residents came out to join us, keeping the chill away and snuggled under blankets, we all had a great time.

A really big thank you to our amazing volunteers, Dannie and Jessica for all your help today, showing that we truly are one big family and to our extended family who also joined us. 💖

We look forward to our next chapter and plenty more fun times.
