The Paddocks Care Home are hosting a fund-raising event on Thursday 4th June 14:00- 16:00 hours, we warmly invite our friends and families of The Paddocks to help us raise the roof in raising vital funds for Dementia UK 💜.

We will also be offering tea/ coffee/ squash and treats and holding a raffle. The Paddocks have a complimentary voucher for two people to visit The Thursford Collection which will go to the highest hidden bidder- yes the bidding is blind! All entries need to be in by 16:00 hours on Thursday 4th June 2026, and in a sealed envelope handed to Georgina or Becca in the activity room.

Our amazing Sandpiper residents were able to try our new interactive tablet - which went down at treat! The design of this tablet is to encourage different brain activities to help stimulate the mind 💭 and supporting with memory and recall. It allowed them to be interactive with their hands or using the electronic pen.

They really enjoyed the matching game/ pair game.

The residents became a dab hand and was swiftly matching up pairs and moving onto the next level - we are excited to continue using this with all our residents 😁

This morning’s activity for both Sandpiper and Kingfisher residents was a walk into town, we passed some lovely flowers edging a garden 🌸🌷, and whilst in town we went looking for a sun hats 👒🧢; we would like to say a very big thank you 🙏to the ladies in the Each Charity Shop for offering to donate some free sun hats for our residents to keep them safe in the sun 🌞.

On a glorious Sunday morning 🌞 for both Sandpiper and Kingfishers were gardening , scattering wildflower seeds 🌱 in Sandpiper and maintaining the saplings already planted in Kingfisher. Following on from the gardening which due to the heat 🫠 was a short time, some residents enjoyed tea and chat on the patio under shade ☕😎.

This morning I had the honour of taking one of our amazing residents out from Sandpiper, they had a choice whether we went out in the car or a walk into town, they very quickly said “walk to town”, from the off it was about having a sensory experience, being able to squish things, touch things, smells things and enjoy the fresh air; all be it a bit breezy for this time of year. Ensuring strong communication and lots of giggles were also a priority.

We then stopped off for a much-needed pit stop and refuel before returning home.

The men had a social morning in the activities room with tea, coffee some creativity and model animal kits ☕. There was a selection to build your own wooden puzzle car, giraffe or mammoth kit and the men got stuck in and started building 🛠️. They also had a great time creating some colour in the corner of the activities room with balloons printing bright colours in preparation for a murial 🎈🎈.

This morning’s activity in Sandpiper was Brain Games; using Simon Says to follow colour sequences and the tangram puzzle to copy patterns. The residents who took part showed joy and happiness during the activity which were 1:1’s 😁🥰
