Hi!

For those you who don’t know me I’m Chris and I founded My Autism Assessment.

As I’m ‘only’ a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist I’ve surrounded myself with a strong team of diagnosing Clinical Psychologists; an excellent Educational Psychologist; two Nurses and a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist.

I qualified back in 2007 and in 2009 I was the co-lead clinician in a large London NHS team and our role was to design; set-up and work within a Neurodevelopmental assessment team attached to CAMHS.

Fast forward a couple of years and I was working in London; Dubai; Abu Dhabi; Sharja; Oman; Russia; Switzerland; India; Cyprus and Nigeria co-leading multidisciplinary assessment and intervention teams.

Moving to Wales in 2012 I worked in early intervention for the NHS in Swansea and for the Local Authority in Bridgend across a range of mainstream schools with neurodivergent children. I could see a huge gap in much needed provision across South Wales.

In 2017 I sold a London based large multidisciplinary assessment and intervention service so that I could focus on Wales, where my growing family was based, and I continued to work as a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist here and across the U.K. with the odd trip overseas.

In 2023 I formed My Autism Assessment (previously South Wales Autism Assessments) and roped in all the amazing clinicians I’d worked with in the past to provide Autism and ADHD assessments for children and adults across Wales.

Fast forward to 2026 and we have re-branded; we have an incredible team of clinicians; we’re onto our fourth Neurodevelopmental assessment NHS contract (with the same commissioners) and we’re assessing 250-300 children or adults.

Having been through this process as a family we have adapted and improved each step so that it is neurodivergent friendly and we’re always looking for feedback to make sure we don’t become complacent.

Day-to-day, and 19 years after qualifying, I still feel privileged that I haven’t been lost to the echelons of management and I get to work clinically every single day; highly respected Paediatricians and Clinical Psychologists choose to refer to me; families and individuals commission us for assessments and the NHS continues to trust the quality of our assessments.
