#ᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜᴍᴏɴᴅᴀʏ

This post from World 🗺️ Athletics kind of made me think a little about this……..

And even though I’m an athlete who is always self disciplined and works hard, even for me in the last couple of weeks after Cardiff Half I realised I needed to re-implement things in my processes and training and push myself more like I used to and I realised that maybe 🤔 I’ve been complacent at times ✖️ almost expecting PB’s to come and good times to come ALL the time once you’ve been through a period.

So after re-implementing those things in the last couple of weeks I’ve already got my supreme confidence back in my running and already feeling very confident for the rest of the block and for and that I could be lining up there in my best shape.

But at the same time, just because 😼 Ive had THE perfect 👌 marathon builds before where EVERYTHING was perfect doesn’t mean that that will be the case ALL the time I’m learning now. But that’s 🆗.

Rather peak for the big day- that’s most important.

But also where this post resonated with me is that where it is great to have super ambitious goals and want to achieve as high as you possibly can in the sport, sometimes I am a perfectionist and put WAY too much pressure on myself in an already very mentally hard sport.

To be crying your eyes out distraught at running a 2:56 marathon one year whilst it not being a PB shows the amount of pressure I put on myself and how obsessive I am and the perfectionist that I am.

Even I realise I need to try to stop being so hard on myself sometimes in future on the days where I might not achieve perfection but can still be super proud of the result and say I’ve still had a great run.

But also, when you’re too obsessed or too much the other way it’s very easy to sillily question everything when you have bad days & catastrophise and question things.

At the end of the day all I can control is the process and as long as I’m still working hard but enjoying the working hard and just doing everything that I always do, that is all I can ask.

You have to let the results sort themselves out 🫶.

This year’s theme is “lived experiences”.

And boy could I write an autobiography but Insta doesn’t allow it 😂 😜.

I have had to put up with SO much bullying in my adult life and still to this day do.

Gossipers, two faced people, people who can’t just be nice, people who make it out to be your fault and make it out like there is something wrong with your perspective or accusing you of making it up rather than owning up to their behaviour.

None of this helps or creates a good situation.

Not standing up for people and letting bullying happen can also contribute towards a lot.

A lot of people have made out they like me and have my best interests at heart but don’t stand up for me or back me up.

And whilst I had some bad experiences up in London towards the end, and have just been unlucky in my life in general, having asked and gotten back in touch with old colleagues and friends up in London I learnt that actually the absolute tripe I have had to put up with around the Swansea area in general is especially bad and just not normal compared to how friendly other places I’ve lived in the past are.

Some people need to take a long hard look at themselves in the 🪞.

And I’m the last person who’s a confrontational person or argumentative at all and I have made a habit of letting my results and success in life do my talking. My tolerance level is as high as Mount Everest and just last week I told the children at Walford Nursery & Primary School to not be like the bully.

And finally, my visit to this school was very emotional 🥲 🥹 😭 and EXTRA special for me because they teach their pupils from a young age that bullying is not nice and a BIG think about anti-bullying is made.

A lot of people try to silence me from having an opinion.

A lot of people don’t like my self confidence and extreme security in my own skin because it highlights the lack of either in them.

Sadly we live in a world where people who stand up to bullying are then looked down on.

Hopefully this post makes people 🤔.

⭐ I LOVE THIS JOB 😁 💕 ⭐

A lovely Friday visit to Walford Nursery & Primary School in the today on behalf of ActivKids UK .

A great fun visit and the children really did well.

All of the schools 🎒🏫 I've been to have been lovely 😻 but I was pleased and quietly proud to learn that they take denouncing bullying VERY seriously and they encourage everybody to be kind and each class has an anti-bullying ambassador.

And I could touch on this a little bit more in assembly and this visit I enjoyed even more so because of that and felt a bit more special for me.

It’s RACE WEEK 🏁 and I used to get proper frustrated if I didn’t achieve exactly 👍 what I wanted in the warm up races for the

But I learnt something the other day that changed my mindset and will help me take the pressure off the warm up races (whilst still aiming to do my absolute best).

In swimming and triathlon, it’s common that in the build up to peoples main priority they race under fatigue sometimes so they can practice tactics and practice things during the build up races but also it just makes sense because it all the more trains you to be able to perform under that fatigue on the big day.

So never thought of it in that way before, it kinda makes sense and it’s definitely changed my mindset and perspective.

Obviously you still want to do as well as you can in the build up races but it’s all about the process towards the end goal.
