Did You Know?

Buttonholes may be a stylish wedding accessory today, but their origins are rooted in tradition.

Historically, flowers and herbs were worn to ward off bad luck and protect against evil spirits. Over time, this evolved into the buttonholes we see at weddings today.

Whether chosen to complement a bouquet, reflect a colour scheme or honour a loved one, buttonholes remain a small detail with a fascinating history.

Sometimes the smallest wedding traditions have the biggest stories behind them.

🎵 The power of music

When planning a funeral, families often spend a lot of time choosing the music.

Not because it's simply part of the service, but because music has a unique way of capturing a person's personality, passions and memories.

Years later, people may not remember every word that was spoken, but they'll often remember the song that made them smile, laugh or shed a tear.

Whether it's a favourite artist, a song from a first dance, a football anthem or a tune that always got them singing along, music can tell a story that words sometimes cannot.

If you were choosing a song to represent your life, what would it be? 🎶💚

💐 Did You Know...?

Brides have carried flowers for centuries, but not always for the reasons you might think.

In ancient times, bouquets often contained herbs and fragrant flowers that were believed to bring good fortune and ward off bad luck.

While today's bouquets are usually chosen for their beauty, colour and personal meaning, they remain one of the most enduring wedding traditions.

Your wedding day is about celebrating the people you love most... and sometimes that includes a wagging tail and four paws. 🐾

For many couples, a beloved dog is part of the family, so it's only natural to want them involved in your special day.

Whether they're walking down the aisle, posing for photos, greeting guests, or simply sharing in the celebrations, there are so many ways to include your four-legged friend in your ceremony.

After all, the best weddings reflect the people (and pets!) who mean the most to you.

Did your dog have a role in your wedding, or would you include them if you were planning one?

June marks Pride Month, a time to celebrate love, identity, acceptance and community.

As a celebrant, it is a privilege to create ceremonies that reflect the people at their heart, their stories, their values and the love they share.

Because every couple deserves a ceremony that feels authentic, meaningful and uniquely theirs.

Happy Pride Month. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Flowers often become tied to moments, people and memories in ways we don’t always realise.

A particular scent can instantly transport us back to a wedding day, a loved one, a garden, or a moment in time, which is part of what makes flowers so meaningful in both celebrations and farewells.

The deep breath before the aisle walk.
The squeeze of a hand during vows.
The look that says everything without words.

They’re often the moments nobody plans for… yet they become the memories couples treasure the most.

That’s the beauty of a truly personal ceremony.

💍 Did You Know? 💍

Traditionally, the bride and groom were not supposed to see each other before the wedding ceremony!

This custom dates back to arranged marriages, where couples were often kept apart until the ceremony itself. It was believed that seeing each other beforehand could bring bad luck... especially if the groom changed his mind!

Today, many couples still keep the tradition alive because it adds excitement, anticipation, and emotion to that unforgettable moment when they first see each other walking down the aisle. ❤️

Of course, modern weddings are all about personal choice, and many couples now choose a private “first look” before the ceremony instead.
