It is always a privilege to be trusted with such an important and personal occasion, and knowing that I was able to bring some comfort to a family at such a difficult time is incredibly special.

DID YOU KNOW?

The tradition of flower girls and pageboys goes back centuries, and their original roles were a little different from what we see at weddings today!

🌸 Flower girls can be traced back to ancient Roman weddings, where young attendants would scatter herbs and grains ahead of the bride. These were symbols of fertility, prosperity and good fortune for the newly married couple.

🤵 Pageboys have their roots in medieval and aristocratic weddings. Traditionally, young boys would help carry the bride's long train or assist with ceremonial dutie, particularly at grand weddings where elaborate gowns could be rather difficult to manage!

Today, their roles might include scattering petals, carrying the rings, holding a sign or simply looking adorable as they make their way down the aisle.

And, of course, when little ones are involved in a ceremony, there's always the possibility they'll completely ignore the plan and create one of the most memorable moments of the day!

📸 World Photography Day – 19 August

There’s something incredibly special about photographs. They capture a moment that may last only seconds, but give us something we can return to for years to come.

For a wedding, they preserve the laughter, the happy tears and all those little moments that can pass by in a blur.

When we’ve lost someone we love, photographs can take on an even greater meaning. A familiar smile, a family holiday, a special celebration or even an ordinary everyday moment can suddenly become one of our most treasured possessions.

As a celebrant, I often see just how powerful photographs can be in telling someone’s story and bringing back memories that might otherwise have been forgotten.

So, on World Photography Day, take a little time to look through your photographs and enjoy the memories behind them.

Receiving words like these means more than I can say.

Being trusted to help a family say goodbye to someone they love is an incredible privilege. My aim is always to create a ceremony that feels personal, meaningful and truly reflects the life of the person being remembered.

Thank you to S, A & family for taking the time to share these beautiful words following their mum’s service. It was an honour to help you celebrate her life and to support you through such a difficult time.
