Our next Faringdon Friendship and Memories Café will take place on the 24th August at Faringdon United Church, SN7 7HA!

Kindly sponsored by Rotary Club of Faringdon & District and supported by Dementia Oxfordshire, this group is always a friendly, inclusive space run by Home Instead Charities UK volunteers.

Whether you’re affected by dementia, supporting a loved one, or simply looking for a relaxed afternoon and a friendly chat over tea, you’ll find a warm welcome here.

The afternoon begins with refreshments and light‑hearted activities, followed by plenty of conversation and finishes on a high note with a cheerful sing‑along to lift the spirits.

Tuesday 25th August at Coop Cafe at Old Town Swindon!
In partnership with The Midcounties Co-operative Food this is a friendly, sociable cafe run by Home Instead Charities UK volunteers from our Swindon office of Home Instead. A chance to connect and make friends.

It's on "Diamond Discount Day" as on Tuesdays over 60's who are members of Midcountries Coop can claim 10% off their shop!

There will be light‑hearted activities, conversation, and drinks and refreshments can be purchased from the Coop cafe.
No booking required, just turn up at 10.30am!

'Reminiscence at Home' - a new series on reminiscence.

Reminiscence is simply the act of looking back on meaningful moments- childhood memories, favourite songs, old hobbies, or treasured family stories. For older adults, especially those living with dementia, these memories can feel clearer and more comforting than recent events.

If you’re supporting an older loved one at home, we're going to give you ideas to weave reminiscence into daily life.

Tip 1: Ask about their childhood meals while cooking together and play music of their era during morning routines.

You'll find these everyday touches help build connection, reduce stress, and create a sense of comfort and familiarity.

Faringdon Friendship & Memories Cafe is on Monday 24th August 2-4pm!

It's at Faringdon United Church! Sure to be huge fun as we have the wonderful Sentimental Journeys with Nicki joining us for our Summer Party!

We will also have Berlyn, from Elmbrook Court Care Home Wantage coming along after Cat met Berlyn last week to talk about how we can work together to support our local community in even more ways!
