We'll be there cheering Dan over the finish line at Royal Wootton Bassett this Saturday! 130 miles is an incredible feat in one day, and he's doing it for a brilliant reason - in memory of our much-missed MD Nick, who meant a great deal to so many of us, and raising money for the Stroke Association. πŸ’™

Go, Dan! πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

Only 4 days until we head down to Croyde ready for the big ride this Saturday. Sponsorship is up to almost Β£3,400 and so the next big goal is to try and get to Β£4,000.

The route has been finalised with a photo attached of this along with the elevation profile for those who are interested. As you can see there is a lot of climbing during the first half and then further climbs later on which will definitely be a challenge. A total of over 2,100 metres of vertical climb is roughly the same as cycling up and down Snowdon twice in a day! If all goes well (and I don’t get lost) the aim be in the saddle for between 8 and 9 hours (plus regular rest and refuelling stops).

Thank you to everyone who's sponsored already. If you haven't then anything you can give would be greatly appreciated, just quick on the link below.

First aid training isn't a box-ticking exercise. Or it shouldn't be.

The best reason to get trained isn't because your employer needs a certificate on the wall. It's because emergencies don't wait for someone confident to walk in. They happen to whoever's there - and that might be you.

Our Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work course covers resuscitation, choking, bleeding, seizures, shock, burns & scalds, and takes just one day to complete. No prior experience needed. No pressure. Just practical skills taught properly.

We have some spaces left on our next open course - details below.

In case you hadn't noticed... it's absolutely roasting out there β˜€οΈ

The UK just recorded its hottest May day ever - and this week isn't letting up. If you're an employer (or you look after people at work in any capacity), it's worth a quick check of your hot weather arrangements.

No, there's no legal maximum working temperature. Yes, you still have a duty of care. And yes, the HSE has a solid set of practical guidance to help - covering heat stress, outdoor workers, and a handy checklist to make sure you've got the basics covered.

Worth five minutes of your time: https://www.hse.gov.uk/temperature/employer/index.htm

Look after your people. And maybe invest in a desk fan! πŸ₯΅

Someone gets hurt at work. A serious fall, a hospital trip, and then a visit from the Health & Safety Executive.

It's the scenario no business wants. But for one of our clients, it became proof that their Health & Safety systems were genuinely working.

We supported them through the investigation and the HSE visit. The verdict? Good standard of H&S management. No further action needed.

The incident happened because someone took a shortcut - not because the systems failed. And that difference is everything.

A decade is a big milestone anywhere - and a great excuse for cake!πŸŽ‚

This week we're celebrating Sally, one of our Occupational Health Advisers, who is marking ten years with Safewell. A qualified nurse, Sally joined us after a career at Great Western Hospital, and we cannot imagine the team without her.

The timing feels pretty fitting too - International Nurses day was on 12th May, and Sally is a great reminder of exactly why that day matters.

We love having you on the team, Sally. Here's to the next ten years! πŸŽ‰

On Saturday 13th June, Daniel will be taking on an incredible bike ride in memory of our much-missed MD, Nick.

The ride is an amazing tribute to Nick's life and legacy, and a reminder of the impact one person can leave behind.

If any of you are around on the day, do join us to cheer Daniel on at the finish line at St Bart's School - we'll be there to show our support and to remember Nick.

Our fire risk assessor and trainer Butch has been at the Fire Safety Event at the NEC this week, taking time to learn, listen and swap ideas with others in the industry.

Keeping up with events like this helps ensure our fire safety advice and training stays practical, relevant and based on what actually works - not just what looks good on paper πŸ”₯

Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

Which sounds very formal....

But really it's about people going home in one piece. Every day.

That's the goal. Everything else is just paperwork.

When you think about workplace safety, does stress come to mind?

April is Stress Awareness Month, and mental health is now firmly on the workplace agenda. Expectations around managing stress at work are increasing, with mental wellbeing now recognised as part of overall safety - not a separate issue.

Where work pressures could cause harm, they shouldn't be ignored.

πŸ‘‰We've shared more on what this means for employers here: https://safewell.co.uk/is-your-risk-assessment-protecting-mental-health-too

What do you think businesses can do better when it comes to stress at work?
