Old Town Hypnotherapy Old Town Hypnotherapy, where modern clinical hypnotherapy helps you to resolve issues quickly in a relaxed, friendly environment. Swindon, Marlborough, online

What is Hypnotherapy and how can it help you make changes quickly? Hypnosis has been used for many years as a way of allowing people to make positive changes to their lives. At Old Town Hypnotherapy, modern clinically proven therapeutic techniques are combined with the state of trance to help people make significant positive changes within relatively short periods of time. How Does Hypnotherapy Wo

rk? Working with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, we look at what you want to achieve or change in your life rather than on the problem(s) that prompted you to seek change. The approach focuses on the present and future and not on the past. At Old Town Hypnotherapy we ask you to consider your preferred future, for instance, “what would be better if the problem had improved?” “What would have changed?” This enables your possible solutions to become more apparent and worked towards. The hypnosis itself, which just feels as if you are nicely relaxed, allows you to access your subconscious mind and make changes at that subconscious level. At all times you are completely in control, your mind will only accept what it agrees with and the changes you make feel very natural because they have come from you.

“Research shows that there is more scientific evidence for hypnotherapy than any other complementary therapy…. by using hypnosis, people can perform prodigious feats of will power and self healing”(Health Education Authority)

Some people become so used to coping that they barely notice how tense, alert or emotionally overloaded they really are. Staying organised, staying useful, staying calm for everybody else can slowly become less of a choice and more of a permanent state.

Over time, chronic stress changes how the brain and body respond. Rest can feel uncomfortable. Silence feels unfamiliar. Switching off becomes difficult. Even enjoyable moments can carry an undercurrent of tension.

Many people describe feeling as though they are always “on duty” mentally, even when nothing is actively wrong.

Therapeutic approaches focused on calming the nervous system and interrupting stress patterns can help people feel more emotionally settled, sleep more deeply and regain a greater sense of balance and control.

Free initial consultations are available for anybody who recognises these patterns in themselves.

Caring roles can gradually consume identity, time and emotional energy until it becomes difficult to remember what you need, enjoy or miss. Supporting others should not mean disappearing yourself.

Some caring roles create a state of ongoing alertness. Listening out in the night, anticipating problems or feeling unable to properly switch off can keep the nervous system in a chronic state of stress.

Many carers struggle with guilt at the idea of taking time for themselves. Rest can feel indulgent when someone else needs so much from you. Yet running on empty helps nobody for long.

Caring for someone else can be an act of love, duty, necessity or all three. But constantly being the one who notices, manages, organises and worries takes a toll. Emotional exhaustion often builds quietly until it simply feels normal.
