The Story Behind The Hair Tattoo Clinic
It’s more than hair. It’s identity.
The Hair Tattoo Clinic didn’t begin with a big investment, a team of people behind me, or everything perfectly mapped out.
It started with me, a pair of clippers, and a belief that I could build something of my own, when people thought I couldn’t, when I thought I couldn’t, I did.
My journey began in barbering. For years, I worked closely with people and quickly realised that sitting in a barber's chair was about far more than getting a haircut. You hear people's stories. You see their insecurities. You notice the things they don't always say out loud.
And one thing kept appearing again and again ..hair loss.
I saw how a receding hairline, thinning crown, alopecia or simply losing the hair someone once had could completely change the way they saw themselves.
For some people, it wasn't ‘just hair’.
It affected photographs. Dating. Social situations. Looking in the mirror. Taking a hat off. Walking into a room and feeling confident.
That fascinated me, because I realised I didn't just want to cut hair.
I wanted to help people get something back.
So in 2019, The Hair Tattoo Clinic was born.
There wasn't some huge company behind it. I built it myself, from the ground up. I learned, trained, invested, made mistakes, improved, worked long hours and continually pushed myself to become better at what I did.
Scalp micropigmentation became a huge part of that journey.
Being able to recreate the appearance of a natural hairline, disguise thinning areas, work with alopecia and restore density showed me just how powerful the right hair-loss treatment could be.
Then came some of the moments I'll never forget.
Seeing someone look in the mirror after their treatment and watching their expression change.
Clients who had spent years hiding their hair loss suddenly taking photographs again.
People walking through my door self-conscious and leaving standing a little differently.
And clients returning years later, still trusting me with their hair.
That's the part you can't put a price on.
Over time, The Hair Tattoo Clinic grew beyond SMP.
I moved further into hair systems, learning how to create transformations that didn't simply look like somebody was wearing hair, but actually suited their face, age, style and personality.
And the clinic continued evolving.
Today, my work includes different approaches to hair loss and thinning, from scalp micropigmentation and bespoke hair systems to V-Light hair density enhancements and DR. CYJ Hair Filler treatments.
Different treatments. Different techniques.
But the purpose behind them has never changed.
Confidence.
Along the way, I've met some incredible people.
Every person who has trusted me with something they're insecure about has become part of the story of The Hair Tattoo Clinic. I've heard people's experiences with hair loss, relationships, illness, confidence, ageing and life in general.
Some transformations have been dramatic.
Others have been so subtle that nobody else would know anything had been done.
Both can mean everything to the person sitting in my chair.
And while I've helped other people through difficult periods in their lives, I've been building this business while going through my own.
There have been setbacks. Times I've questioned everything. Times I've had to rebuild, adapt and keep going when walking away would probably have been easier.
Building something yourself isn't glamorous all the time.
Behind every photograph and transformation are years of learning, worrying, investing, working, starting again and figuring things out as you go.
But when I look back at where it started - barbering, a pair of clippers and an idea, and compare it with what The Hair Tattoo Clinic has become, I'm proud of what I've built.
Not because it's perfect.
Because I built it from nothing.
And somewhere along the way, it stopped being simply a business.
It became hundreds of conversations.
Hundreds of faces.
Before-and-after photographs.
People who recommended me to their friends.
Clients who became familiar faces.
People who travelled to put their trust in my hands.
And people who walked through my door wanting their hair back, but sometimes left having found a little piece of themselves again.
There is still so much I want to build.
New treatments. New ideas. Better techniques. More people to help.
The Hair Tattoo Clinic has changed enormously since 2019, and I'm sure it will change many more times.
But there is one thing I never want to change.
I never want someone who comes to me about hair loss to feel like they're simply another appointment.
Because I know that when somebody says:
“It's only hair.”
Sometimes, it really isn't.
Hair can be confidence.
Hair can be youth.
Hair can be familiarity.
Hair can be how somebody recognises themselves when they look in the mirror.
And that's why, from the very beginning, the message behind everything I've built has been simple:
**THE HAIR TATTOO CLINIC**
