Today is World Bee Day 🐝

Bees may be small, but they make life on Earth possible. Nearly 75% of the world’s flowering plants and around one-third of the food we eat depend on pollinators like bees. From apples and almonds to coffee and chocolate, bees help grow the foods we rely on every day.

Without bees, ecosystems would collapse, biodiversity would suffer, and food supplies around the world would be at risk.

Protecting bees means protecting our future:
🌼 Plant wildflowers
🚫 Avoid harmful pesticides
🍯 Support local beekeepers
🌍 Protect natural habitats

This World Bee Day, let’s celebrate the tiny workers that keep our planet blooming. 🐝💛

Happy Somerset Day from all of us here at Mountbatten Nursing Home 🐉 💛❤️

Today we’re celebrating everything that makes Somerset so special. The beautiful countryside, strong community spirit, rich traditions, and the wonderful people who call this wonderful county home.

Our residents share memories daily of village fetes, cream teas, seaside trips, farming life, and growing up in Somerset through the decades. It’s been a lovely reminder that home is not just a place, it’s the people, stories, and connections that stay with us.

From Somerset songs and local treats to smiles shared together, today we’re proud to celebrate this incredible county and the generations who helped shape it.

Happy Somerset Day! 🌿🏡

It seemed very fitting to install our new micro pond today, the day Sir David Attenborough celebrated his 100th birthday.

What an incredible and inspiring man, devoted to making us all more aware of our planet, its issues and how we can be a part of making it a better place for all species.

We hope to attract more wildlife to our garden by installing this little pond.

A huge thank you to Taunton Town Council for accepting us into the micro pond project and supplying the new pond and the plants to go in it. We have a few more rocks to place around it to make it more pleasing to the eye but more importantly to allow amphibian access.

Over the next 6,12 and 18 months, we’ll be supply data on the development of the pond and the wildlife that it attracts.

Hopefully we can get some of our residents involved in the project by keeping a watchful eye for wildlife such as frogs, dragonflies and pond skaters.

We’ll post updates so keep an eye out.
