20 Teignmouth Walk this Way walkers on our adventure earlier today -weather fine apart from a very few rain drops at the Passage House

As planned we ie 17 of us caught the 10.20am Newton Abbot bus from Teignmouth to Ware Barton where another walker was waiting for us

After crossing the busy road we headed off down the lane where there were lots of lovely wild orchids growing on the grassy bank

Another walker met us on the footbridge over the Torquay to Exeter Rd and then our 20th walker was waiting for us by the leat just before Kingsteignton church- we followed the path past the old mill crossed Greenhill Way and entered Hackney Marshes

As walk leader I somehow managed to take the wrong path leading everyone on past numerous wooden bridges leading to a housing estate - eventually it dawned on me we were " a bit lost"๐Ÿ™ƒWe then walked across some dry marsh land then on along a path and came to another wooden bridge โ€ฆ..

Couple of walkers consulted phone maps of Hackney Marshes - 5 of us set off over a bridge then realised others were not following !

We continued thinking they'd gone another shorter route and would be at the pub first ๐Ÿ˜

We carried on our walk seeing a large area of the marshes we'd never seen before - just before we reached the railway tunnel I received a phone call from the other walkers saying they were stil on their way..

Waited for them by the tunnel which we usually approach from the opposite and much shorter route

Thankfully all 20 if us made it to our planned refreshment stop at the Passage House

After our break the majority of us headed back to the bus stop in 4 or 5 groups

I was in the last 3 groups alas we were unfortunate in that some of us were at the bus stop for an hour so only arrived back in Teignmouth around 2.15pm

REMINDER next Weds June 17th we'll meet up near the pier by 10am then catch the number 2 Exeter bus from the PO bus stop at 10.09am to Langdon Hospital. We're walking up the grass path along the hospital boundary out into the countryside ,then down Port Rd ,across lower corner of Dawlish Country Park and on to our refreshment stop at Hope Church Community Cafe - half hourly buses home from nearby Sainsburys bus stop .

Some light drizzle pre our walk this morning then luckily weather fine meaning lots of jackets were taken off once we'd started walking !

As planned we were on the 10.09am Exeter bus from Teignmouth -14 of us got off at stop near Swans Nest pub at Exminster where another walker was waiting for us ๐Ÿ‘

We walked on over the railway bridge then via the RSPB Reserve paths before crossing the field and then climbed up and walked over the wooden bridge then climbed down again to the path leading us a few metres on to our mid walk refreshment stop at the canal and riverside Turf Lock pub - where we sat outside enjoying the beautiful scenery and good company๐Ÿ‘

Afterwards 2 walked on to Starcross and another 2 walked along the towpath and lane back to the Swans Nest

During the walk we saw lots of butterflies and moths ,numerous swallows and a few noisy geese flying overhead -the rest of us returned same route via the RSPB reserve to the bus stop

REMINDER our next Teignmouth Walk this Way walk is on Weds June 10th .Meet up by 10am near the pier then we're catching the 10.19am number 2 Newton Abbot bus to Ware Barton -we're doing a circular walk which includes parts of Kingsteignton and Hackney Marshes

Our mid walk refreshment stop will be at the riverside Passage House Inn.Buses home at approx 15 & 45 mins past each hour ๐Ÿ‘

As planned 10 of us including a new walker caught the train from Teignmouth to Newton Abbot ,another 2 were already on the train ,2 more waiting for us at Newton station and another walk leader met us at Decoy Park ๐Ÿ‘

We'd walked from Newton station via Forde Park where sadly we saw several new trees really suffering through lack of water ..

Once at Decoy Park we did a lovely circuit of the lake particularly enjoying finding shade in the woods - half term so lots of children with adults enjoying the playpark ,field or playing in the water in the woods ๐Ÿ‘

As planned we walked back to the Community cafe in Forde Park for our refreshments then the majority of us walked back to the station for our train home ๐Ÿ‘

REMINDER next Weds June 3rd we'll meet up by the pier for 10am then catch the number 2 Exeter bus from Teignmouth PO bus stop at 10.09am to Swans Nest at Exminster .We'll walk via the RSPB reserve paths to our mid walk refreshment stop at Turf Lock on the Exeter canal - twice hourly buses back home on the hour and half hour ๐Ÿ‘

21 Teignmouth Walk this Way Walkers enjoyed a lovely walk led by Ann P around Venford Reservoir on Dartmoor earlier today ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

It was our 3rd attempt to do this walk which previously we'd postponed due to wet and windy weather

Despite the drizzly forecast for today we chose to proceed with our planned walk

20 of us left Teignmouth station in 6 cars taking various scenic routes to Venford

Just before 11am we were actually ready to start the circular walk around the reservoir - very enjoyable mostly level walk though you do need to watch out for lots of tree roots

Ann P then led 13 others up to the top of the nearby Bench Tor whilst 6 of us had a wander down a lane to look at the rhododendrons and the waterwork buildings

Back up by the cattle grid 6 of us met Neil who'd actually arrived at Venford before us gone for a dog walk then missed us setting off- Neil then did a lone walk around the reservoir and up to the tor

Venford Reservoir was constructed 1905 - 07 by Albert Best Company of Teignmouth and Hawkins Company of Dawlish to provide a water supply for Paignton Urban District Council.

Albert Best died 1920 and is buried in Teignmouth old cemetery quite close to the chapel

Photo below of Neil by the Venford Reservoir memorial plaque - sadly after 119
years the inscription is becoming less clear to decipher

Shortly after meeting Neil the drizzle became heavier so the first 14 returning from the tor and Stu & Geri who'd gone for a short walk got somewhat damp whilst the lucky 4 of us were sheltering in a car !

16 of us went for our refreshments at the nearby Holne tearooms - food great and service excellent

REMINDER next Weds May 27th - meet up at railway station we're catching the 10.08 am train to Newton Abbot ready for our walk around Decoy Park- refreshments at the Community cafe in Forde Park

18 Teignmouth WTW walkers including a new walker were on our planned Powderham circuit walk this morning๐Ÿ‘

Weather mainly sunny though somewhat breezy with a very few drops of light rain !

After a panic not everyone knew that the number 2 bus timetable changed early May I sent out What's App message plus emails this mornng ref earlier time for today's bus - then of course the bus was actually quite late !!!

Anyway our Powderham walk as usual was enjoyable through lovely countryside with a few stops to allow everyone to catch up .

Once at the Farm Shop area we went to either the Bistro or shop for refreshments before catching our buses home ๐Ÿ‘

REMINDER next Weds May 20th it's our car share trip lead by Ann P to Venford Reservoir on Dartmoor - leaving Teignmouth railway station at 10am

NB Ann P has put up a poll on our WTW What's App ref next week Venford Reservoir car share trip ie booking places and offering to drive cars ๐Ÿ‘

Chillier weather for our 17 WTW walkers this morning - 16 of us on the bus then we were joined by another walker as we got off at Wellswood

As planned we all walked along the very green and peaceful Lincombe Drive with occasional glimpses of coastal views

4 of the more hardy walkers joined the SW coast path at Daddyhole Plain and the majority of us walked on down the road past the Imperial Hotel to Torquay Harbour for our refreshment stop at The Lighthouse cafe before catching our buses home

REMINDER next Weds May 13th meet up near Teignmouth pier by 10am - we're catching the number 2 Exeter bus from the Teignmouth PO bus stop at 10.09am to Powderham Castle then walk our usual Powderham Estate circuit
There is a shortish hill climb during the walk ๐Ÿ˜“refreshments at Powderham Castle cafe or farm shop before we catch bus home

16 members of Teignmouth Walk this Way weekly walking group enjoyed a great new waterside Exeter walk earlier today lead by Ann L๐Ÿ‘

We caught the train to Exeter Central then were caught up in minor chaos trying to get through the new exit ticket barriers - some machines that work plus decent signage ref using new paper tickets would be an improvement!

We walked on past the cathedral and then on down to the Quay...from there we enjoyed a lovely river and canalside footpath circuit

Some of us stopped for refreshments at the Quay before heading back up into the city centre by foot or bus -a few of us can now recommend the hourly bus which leaves at 30 mins past๐Ÿ‘

We returned home via different trains

REMINDER next Weds May 6th meet up near the pier by 10.15am - we're catching the 10.30am number 11 Torquay bus from PO bus stop to Wellswood .Our walk takes us along the lovely Lincombe Drive then on down to Torquay Harbour .We usually have refreshments at the Lighthouse cafe before catching bus home from nearby Torwood St bus stop at 40 mins past the hour ๐Ÿ‘

NB It's that time of year to remind our walkers to remember to bring their water bottles plus wear sun protection again please ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜“
