Tackling Rounded Shoulders & Postural Hyperkyphosis...
Over the last year, we have done over 300 digital postural assessments, and something we're noticing becoming a more common finding is something called ‘postural hyperkyphosis’.
Many of us spend hours each day looking down at phones, sitting at desks, or driving. Over time, this can contribute to an exaggerated rounding of the upper back (hyperkyphosis), often accompanied by forward head posture and rounded shoulders.
While posture isn't something to obsess over, significant postural changes can place extra stress on the muscles and joints of the neck, shoulders and upper back. This may contribute to stiffness, muscle fatigue, headaches, reduced shoulder mobility, persistent neck or upper back discomfort and can limit how well the chest expands during breathing.
The good news is that posture is often modifiable, especially when addressed early. Small, consistent changes usually produce the best results.
