The Great Rotherwood Row-Off

Herefordshire or Shropshire โ€“ who will row their way to victory?

On Monday 10th August, residents and team members from Colwall Care Home and Roden Hall will go head-to-head in The Great Rotherwood Row-Off, taking on an incredible 10km rowing challenge to raise money for their chosen charities.

Representing Herefordshire, Colwall Care Home will be raising funds for Colwall Community Church while Roden Hall will be rowing for Hope House & Tลท Gobaith Children's Hospices, supporting children with life-threatening conditions and their families.

Every metre rowed will help make a difference, and we'd love your support.

Happy 91st Birthday, Ron!

Everyone at Roden Hall came together to celebrate Ron's 91st birthday with plenty of smiles, birthday treats and special surprises.

A familiar and much-loved face around the home, Ron enjoyed celebrating with fellow residents and team members, starting the day with a Bucks Fizz breakfast before enjoying cake, cupcakes and some of his favourite treats, including Werther's Originals and a bottle of Doom Bar.

Ron was overwhelmed by all the birthday wishes, thanking everyone for making his day so special.

A Lovely Day at Tee Lake

Residents from Roden Hall enjoyed a wonderful day out at Tee Lake, soaking up the fresh air, beautiful scenery and local wildlife.

Joyce, Barry and Eileen loved feeding the ducks, swans and geese, watching the fishermen and, of course, stopping at Greggs for a snack!

Joyce had everyone laughing when she joked, "There's too much here for me," deciding the ducks deserved a little treat too, while Eileen simply described it as "a lovely place."

It was a fantastic day filled with fresh air, laughter and lovely memories.

An Afternoon of Music and Memories

Residents at Roden Hall enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of live entertainment as singer Paul Watkins returned with a fantastic selection of classic favourites.

There was plenty of singing along, dancing and reminiscing, with Jean knowing every word as always!

Get Up & Go!

Residents at Roden Hall enjoyed another energetic 'Get Up & Go' session with Lifestyle Assistant Karen, combining movement and mobility exercises with fun games and a little friendly competition.

Joyce took on the important role of keeping score during the bean bag challenge, giving her memory a workout too, while newcomer Eileen, aged 100, showed everyone you're never too old to get involved! The session finished with boxing exercises and, of course, a singalong to the Birdie Song โ€“ always a firm favourite.

An Afternoon of Music, Movement and Smiles

Residents at Roden Hall enjoyed a wonderful afternoon as Sheila led one of her much-loved exercise sessions, bringing everyone together for music, movement and plenty of laughter.

With the warm weather encouraging a gentler pace, residents enjoyed keeping active while chatting, reminiscing and spending time together. Family members also joined in the fun, making the afternoon even more special.

There was also an adorable visitor as Millie the cocker spaniel happily relaxed in the shade wearing a beautiful knitted collar lovingly made by resident Pam.

Starting the Day the Roden Hall Way

There's nothing quite like a good breakfast to start the day, and at Roden Hall, residents have plenty to choose from.

Whether it's a hearty full English, fresh fruit and yoghurt, or a simple slice of toast with their favourite jam, every breakfast is freshly prepared by our chefs. Residents can choose exactly what they'd like each morning, with special dietary requirements and personal preferences always catered for.

For those who wish to, there's also the opportunity to maintain their independence by helping themselves to breakfast, while our team are always on hand to provide support whenever it's needed.

As resident Ken shared, "It's marvellous, like living in a hotel!" while Geoff added, "You give us too much choice!"

The Great Coffee Taste Test

Costa or Starbucks? That was the big question as residents at Roden Hall headed out in search of the best coffee in town!

New resident Barry has always been a Costa fan, but Home Manager Chelsie was determined to see if Starbucks could change his mind. While Barry enjoyed trying both, Pam was sticking firmly with Costa, saying she preferred a less strong coffee.

This visit was a lovely chance to enjoy a change of scenery, great company and a sense of normality. Barry and Pam thanked the team for a lovely trip out, proving that sometimes it's the simple moments that mean the most.

Getting Ready for International Friendship Day

Ahead of International Friendship Day, our residents at Roden Hall enjoyed creating handmade cards to send to our friends at Dorset House.

Filled with kind words, thoughtful designs and personal messages, each card was made to bring a smile to someone's face. It was a lovely way to bring our homes together and celebrate the friendships that make our Rotherwood community so special.

A special mention to Elaine, who chose a panda design because, as she says, "Everybody likes pandas!" ๐Ÿผ
