This is one of the easiest FAQs to answer: No, you don't. 💛

You can book directly with us — no GP referral, no waiting list, no NHS paperwork. Just pick up the phone, send us a message, or book online whenever you're ready.

Why people often think they need a referral:

A lot of clients are used to the idea that to see any healthcare professional, they need to go through their GP first. That's how the NHS system works for many services — including some podiatry referrals.

But Finest Feet Footcare is a private foot health practice. That means you can:
✔️ Book directly with us at any time
✔️ Choose appointment dates that suit you (not whatever the NHS can offer in 6 months)
✔️ Be seen quickly — usually within a week or two
✔️ Decide for yourself how often you'd like care
✔️ Use our home visit service if you can't easily come to the clinic
✔️ Have all the time you need — appointments are 30–45 minutes

Why people choose private foot care:
🔹 NHS podiatry has long wait times and tight eligibility criteria

This is one of the most important questions any diabetic client can ask — and we're so glad when people do. The short answer is: yes, absolutely. In fact, regular professional foot care isn't just safe for diabetic clients — it's strongly recommended. 💛

Why diabetic clients need specialist foot care:

Diabetes affects circulation and nerve sensitivity in the feet. This means small problems — a tiny cut, a callus, an ingrown nail edge — can develop silently and quickly turn into serious complications if left unmanaged.

A trained Foot Health Practitioner can:
✔️ Safely cut and care for nails (especially difficult-to-reach toenails)
✔️ Remove hard skin and callus without damaging the underlying tissue

What actually happens when Alan visits you at home?

Alan arrives at the agreed time with a portable clinic in the boot: sterile instruments sealed for you alone, a professional footcare drill, dressings and a protective mat for the floor.

You sit in your own comfortable chair — no climbing onto a couch. He'll start by asking what's been troubling you and having a proper look at both feet, then cut and file your nails, reduce any thickened ones, remove corns and take down callus and hard skin.

Everything is cleaned up before he leaves. Most visits take about 45 minutes, and he'll tell you honestly when you're due back — usually six to eight weeks.
