💜 July was another brilliant month at ABT, and we're so proud to share what our community has been up to...

🏸 279 of you picked up a racket for badminton
🎨 122 got stuck into art class
⚽ 119 laced up their boots for football
👨‍🍳 104 joined us in the kitchen for cooking class
👟 84 pushed themselves through circuit training
🎣 76 headed down to the water for fishing
🧁 69 got their aprons on for baking

🫶 And volunteering just keeps going from strength to strength: Our clients gave an incredible 260 volunteer hours every single week! 👏👏👏

Huge congratulations to David Dunn and Abby Harland and the team at Release Mates Charity on the opening of their Departure Lounge at Stoke Heath prison.

Anna and Adam joined to celebrate the official opening, by the High Sheriff of Shropshire, and we were blown away by their story: Their pure grit and determination. (Link below to their video, it is a must watch. 🔽🔽🔽)

By prison leavers. For prison leavers. Empowering new beginnings. The simple, clear and effective mission that Release Mates is carrying out.

The lounge took a matter of weeks to design and fit out, with prisoners playing a major part. That long unknown walk to the bus station, in the middle of nowhere, is no longer a challenge for people leaving Stoke Heath prison.

Instead they will be met in a warm, bright space, given the kit they need and the people to make sure they have the resources to get to their next destination.

Huge congratulations. Every prison needs a Release Mates departure lounge.

Our clients are about to start week two at Crowsmill Craft Centre CIC, week one was a huge success - we're astonished by what they've created in three days!

The bird boxes are beautiful. Jason gave embroidery a go. He was convinced it wasn't for him, but has found it surprisingly enjoyable.

Sophie has said she's loving it at Crowsmill, grateful for the chance to learn something new and meet some interesting people along the way - including the odd chicken or two!

We can't wait to see what they'll create this week.
