I came from a world that had just stopped hitting kids with a stick in school era ! True story.

If I ever tried to express ‘anxiety’ I’d of clearly sharply been told to ‘do one’.

It was still entirely normal to be dragged, throw chalk at, chalk board robbers slammed.
And screaming from teachers with saliva flying everywhere, because you didn’t know your 8x table !
All a bit much for a 8 year old.

It was ‘Normal’ - to get a licking, a hiding, a wallop regularly at home, by a grown man. Or your mum with a hairbrush.

Normal for fights weekly, in a - working class all girls school of 900 pupils ! Survival of the funniest or hardest ! 🥊

Teenage years spent around chaos, alcohol, violence and drama in a pub - for some of us, and this is what I called ‘HOME’ for many years.

My nervous system had its work cut out in the early years.

I was on my own from around 17 near enough, a girl in a world that did NOT have the voice it has now, and a heart terrified daily of most things - but survival adaptations helped me bury it.

As an adult and later becoming a mum & wife. The programming, software, systems- needed an ENTIRE re brand & review. The world & enviroment I was in changed. But my software hadn’t.

And here I am now - UPGRADED and continue to allow software updates regularly 🙋🏻‍♀️❤️

You CAN drop the character you built to survive.

You don’t have to stay there.

Look closely at the wavy lines on that board 🫪

Most of us are constantly bouncing between ‘Activated’ and ‘Shutdown’ - completely bypassing our actual baseline.

You cannot ‘mindset’ your way back down to the baseline.
If your physiology is physically stuck above that red line, no amount of positive thinking will convince your body it is safe.
You have to retrain the physical system from the ground up.

Look at the states on the board.
Which zone has your body been parked in lately?
Drop a 🟢, 🔴, or 🟡 below.

🟢 1. The Baseline Zone (Ventral Vagal):
Where your body is supposed to live.
Digestion actually works, muscles aren’t acting like steel beams, and you sleep like a normal human.
You feel safe, connected, and genuinely rested.
(Must be nice).

🔴 2. The Activated Zone (Sympathetic):
See that red line on the board?
Cross it, and welcome to Fight or Flight.
Your heart races, your breathing goes shallow, and your brain treats a minor email like a hostage situation. Long-term residency here means chronic inflammation, rock-hard shoulders, and waking up at 3:00 AM completely wired for absolutely no reason.

🟡 3. The Shutdown Zone (Dorsal Vagal):
When you stay activated for too long, your system pulls the emergency brake.
Welcome to ‘Functional Freeze’.
You look completely normal on the outside, but internally you’re a ghost. Total brain fog, zero motivation, and the unique ability to stare at a wall or rot on the sofa for six hours only to wake up even more exhausted.

The Reality Check: 🙋🏻‍♀️

And no, you cannot ‘positive-mindset’ your way out of this. If your physiology is physically redlined on that chart, downloading another meditation app isn’t going to save you.

Because looking at the UK’s mental health landscape, staying silent is no longer an option.

The current framework is broken, and the data proves it.
Let’s look at the hard facts: 📊

The Crisis: Su***de remains the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK.

The Over-Medication: Public Health England’s comprehensive Prescribed Medicines Review showed that over 50% to 60% of all mental health patients are immediately handed an SSRI or antidepressant !

The NHS logs over 91 million antidepressant prescription items per year - meaning a pill is dispensed every 0.3 seconds.
But because patients are put on automatic ‘repeat prescriptions’ - the system masks how many people are trapped on them long-term.

The Deprivation & Demographic Spike: In the most deprived areas of the UK, the prescribing rates are more than double those of wealthier areas.

The Infrastructure Gap: The UK suffers from a severe lack of innovative infrastructure. Patients are trapped in a system with limited choices and rigid frameworks that completely lack real, long-term success rates. We are repeatedly offering people options that manage symptoms rather than cure them.

That is where we are fighting to bring safe, accessible, and revolutionary treatment to the UK.
To dismantle an outdated system, you need an elite collective willing to lead the charge.

Your brain 🧠 doesn’t care about your happiness.
It cares about your survival 💀.

That ‘anxiety’ or ‘chronic illness’ you have?

The internal monologue that runs in certain environments you put yourself in - after years of serving in the forces, it’s a survival adaptation, put in place for you not from you !

You’re just an adult running deeply outdated software.
A panic attack isn’t a malfunction !

it’s your brain working exactly as it was programmed to, stuck in the ‘ON’ position. Like a car with a brick on the pedal, but out of gear 🛞

And no, you can’t ‘think’ your way out of a physiological flood.

That’s why the generic spa days or talking about your feelings for ten years isn’t working.

Unpopular opinion from a Nervous System specialist 🙋🏻‍♀️
Most of the things you’re doing for ‘self-care’ are actually keeping you completely exhausted. 🥵

The Body:
If you’re living on adrenaline, waking up tired, or constantly dealing with tight shoulders, stiff neck, jaw, back ache - your system is redlined.

And honestly? Piling a bunch of generic wellness trends on top of a fried nervous system is like putting a plaster over a broken leg. Even worse 💊

Here is why your routine might be backfiring:
1️⃣ Forcing brutal workouts when you’re already running on empty: Dragging yourself through a high intensity session when you are already burning out isn’t ‘sweating it out’.
It’s dumping more cortisol onto an overwhelmed system. Your body already thinks it’s running from a tiger and you’re confirming it, guaranteeing you won’t sleep well tonight. Compromising the bodies and physical repairs.

2️⃣ Trying to force your brain to meditate:
If your body is stuck in fight-or-flight, sitting in absolute silence trying to ‘clear your mind’ usually just triggers anxiety.
A dysregulated body interprets forced stillness as being trapped. If meditating feels like a battlefield, your system just doesn’t feel safe enough to drop its guard yet.
The Fix:
Building real resilience isn’t about doing more to your body or forcing it into submission.
It’s about teaching your nervous system how to safely handle stress and come right back down.
