Welcome all, I’m Emma, the face of Anewyou!
Anewyou celebrates 17 years next month since I first began my training!
Many of you ask - what got me into this job.
So I will use this introduction to let you know…
Originally I was the girl that was great at Art at school I went to Art College and hated every minute, so I dropped out! I then didn’t want to waste my fab exams results so I went to Wolves University to study Psychology. Elements of the course I loved, but lots of it I didn’t (especially statistics, I’ve always hated Maths!) but didn’t drop out, I didn’t want to be ‘that’ person that gave up.
As I collected my degree I fell pregnant with my eldest son and focused on raising him so settled into part time retail work that fitted in with his care. Again, I hated this but it suited at the time.
Fast forward to when he was 2, I started to get crippling headaches and dizzy spells. My health anxiety kicked in and I thought I had al sorts of horrendous things wrong with me. The doctor prescribed meds which helped but the headaches remained. And I’m not the kind of person that likes to rely on meds as they just mask the problem and not address it. So a friend suggested it may be stress and to try an Indian Head Massage. I’d never even heard of one, but was desperate, so gave it a try. After 8 treatments the headaches stopped, I was off the meds and I felt so much better! It was then I realised the huge benefits of a holistic approach.
Two years later I was made redundant from my job and I needed a fresh start. I’d trained the previous year in a massage course but more as for a hobby and to help friends and family reap the benefits like I had. But the redundancy forced my hand to peruse a career in holistic rather than a hobby. So with a little inheritance money I received I invested in myself; more education, equipment, advertising and Anewyou was born!
I remember the days leaflet dropping to get my business started, having one client a week, while also working in salons.
Fast forward 17 years, I do a job I adore, I’m still the woman who wont give up, still don’t really take meds, and every day still love helping others enjoy holistic health benefits!
