Parents commonly bring their babies for craniosacral therapy treatment if they are suffering from colic or other digestive problems, are unsettled, have problems sleeping, or have problems associated with difficult or traumatic births. Letting go of tension and fear held in the body enables both mother and baby to settle into calmness.
Babies can be treated while asleep, feeding, or cradled in their mother’s arms. There is no need to undress them.

The process of childbirth involves a series of complex movements and adjustments as the baby passes through the birth canal. This journey can involve twists, turns, and compressions as the baby's head and body navigate through the mother's pelvis. The ability of a baby's skull to reshape and adapt is a remarkable aspect of human physiology that aids in the successful passage through the birth canal and early postnatal development. After birth, the baby's cranium bones can continue to adapt and reshape within a few days. This adaptation can occur through actions like yawning, sucking, breastfeeding, and crying. Difficulties may arise if the baby's skull bones become compressed or have trouble releasing naturally after childbirth. This can occur for many reasons, such as very long or quick births, unusual foetal positions, or during births involving medical interventions like forceps, suction, or Caesarean sections.
Craniosacral therapy is effective in dealing with the effects of birth trauma, including both the compressive forces exerted on the skull and the shock effects of a traumatic birth.
