🇫🇷 Pétanque at Magnolia House...

Residents enjoyed bringing a little taste of France to Magnolia House with a friendly game of pétanque, also known as French boules.

Taking turns to roll the brightly coloured balls, everyone concentrated on getting theirs as close to the target as possible. Our indoor version meant residents could join in comfortably from their chairs while still enjoying gentle movement, coordination and plenty of friendly competition.

There were some impressively close shots.

📅 A busy September ahead at Magnolia House!

Our September activities calendar is full of variety, with plenty for residents to enjoy throughout the month.

We’re looking forward to some special visitors, including Wings of Freedom, Margo the PAT dog and viola player Phillip Heyman. There will also be a boat trip, bus trip, residents’ walks, Mindsong sessions, G-Fitness, a church service and plenty of opportunities to spend time together.

Residents can also enjoy coconut tasting, afternoon tea for Teddy Bear Day, quizzes, arts and crafts, bingo, board games, skittles, chair volleyball and our Knit & Natter and book club sessions. Alongside the activities, our regular hairdresser and foot practitioner visits will continue too.

It promises to be an enjoyable and engaging month at Magnolia House. Which activity would you choose first?

🐐 A wild day out for Magnolia House!

Residents and team members from Magnolia House enjoyed a wonderful trip to All Things Wild, making the most of the sunshine as they explored the park together.

The friendly and very curious goats were a particular highlight, with plenty more to discover in the animal exhibits. There was also time for a photo beside the vintage tractor before everyone cooled down with a well-earned ice lolly.

A lovely change of scenery, great company and lots of smiles made it a day to remember. Thank you to everyone who helped make the trip possible.

🏍️ Today’s the day – our Magnolia House Bike Meet is back!

Following the fantastic success of our last event, we’re looking forward to welcoming another brilliant collection of bikes to Magnolia House from 2:30pm today.

The weather is looking promising, with sunny intervals and very little chance of rain, so it should be a great afternoon for residents, families, friends and our local community to enjoy together.

All bikes are welcome, and we’ll be collecting donations in aid of the Air Ambulance.

🍉 A colourful weekend at Magnolia House!...

With the warm weather continuing, our kitchen team prepared these beautiful fresh fruit platters for residents to enjoy.

Packed with watermelon, strawberries, grapes, melon, kiwi, pineapple, oranges, blueberries and raspberries, they were not only bright and appetising but also wonderfully refreshing.

A simple summer treat, beautifully presented and perfect for helping everyone stay cool and hydrated. They certainly looked almost too good to eat! ☀️🍍

Flags are flying, refreshments are being prepared, and the football chat has already started here at Magnolia House! ⚽

Our residents and team are looking forward to England’s World Cup Semi Final tonight, with plenty of excitement, predictions and friendly debate about how the game might go.

We’ll be cheering England on and hoping for a brilliant performance. Some of us are feeling confident… others are keeping everything crossed!

A proper Wimbledon weekend at Magnolia House! 🎾🍓

We’ve had a lovely weekend enjoying the tennis, and of course it wouldn’t be Wimbledon without a few treats along the way.

There was plenty of Pimms, strawberries and cream, and some beautiful Wimbledon-themed cakes to enjoy while watching the action. Safe to say, the treats went down just as well as the tennis!

A lovely way to spend the weekend together — good company, plenty of chat, and sunshine galore 💛

A wonderful trip out for our Magnolia House residents ✨

Residents recently enjoyed a lovely visit to Gloucester Cathedral, taking in the incredible architecture, beautiful stained glass windows and peaceful atmosphere of such a historic building.

There was so much to see, from the stunning stone corridors and grand interior to the fascinating statues, tombs and displays around the cathedral. It was a brilliant opportunity to explore somewhere full of history, memories and stories.

Of course, one of the highlights was walking through the famous corridors where so many people have walked before — including the areas used during filming for Harry Potter. That definitely sparked plenty of conversation!

Trips like this are so important. They give residents the chance to enjoy new surroundings, reminisce, share stories and experience something special together.
