Osgood-Schlatter’s doesn’t mean your child has to stop being active.

For young athletes, managing Osgood-Schlatter’s well is about much more than simply resting until the pain settles. It is closely linked to growth, which means symptoms can change and flare again during periods of rapid growth.

Bespoke, specialist physiotherapy helps us understand what is driving the symptoms, provide sensible advice around activity and training loads, and create a tailored rehabilitation programme around your child and their sport.

The aim is not simply to treat the pain during a flare-up, but to manage the condition over time building strength, capacity and resilience so that when the next growth spurt comes, they are better prepared to cope with the increased demands.

A structured, gradual return to activity is essential, helping young athletes stay active, confident and progressing safely while reducing the risk of the problem becoming a recurring barrier to the sports they love.

Your Pelvic Floor & Core: Helping Mums Return to Exercise After Birth

Returning to exercise after having a baby is about so much more than waiting for your 6 week check.

Whether your goal is running, CrossFit, cycling, strength training, or simply feeling confident in your body again, your recovery deserves the right foundations.

It takes months for your body to recover from pregnancy and birth, and returning to high-impact exercise too soon can increase the risk of ongoing problems. For most women, it takes at least 12 weeks of progressive rehabilitation before returning to higher-level activity, and for many, it takes longer.

The key is building your body back up in stages:
- Restore and strengthen your pelvic floor
- Rebuild your deep core and abdominal muscles
- Improve lower limb strength and control
- Progress gradually from low-impact to high-impact exercise
- Build your aerobic fitness and exercise tolerance safely

There’s a lot of misinformation online, and every woman’s recovery is different. There is no one-size-fits-all programme.

Whether you’re 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 12 months or even 12 years after having your baby, it’s never too late to improve your strength, confidence and function.

At Pro-Active Physiotherapy & Pilates, our Women’s Health Physiotherapist creates a bespoke rehabilitation plan tailored to your body, your goals and your lifestyle, helping you return to the activities you love, safely and confidently.

Your goal is our goal. Let’s get you back to doing what you love.

It’s all about identifying the mechanisms of pain, what causes it and why. Assessment is key 🤣
