🌒 Solar Eclipse Tonight – A Special Sight Over Gloucestershire...

This evening, residents and teams across Cedar Trust Care Homes will have the opportunity to experience one of nature’s most fascinating sights – a partial solar eclipse.

For Gloucester, the eclipse is expected to begin at approximately 6:16pm, reach its maximum at around 7:13pm, and finish at approximately 8:06pm.

Of course, enjoying the occasion safely is our priority. Anyone watching should never look directly at the Sun, even during the eclipse. Where residents wish to view it, our teams will support them to do so safely using suitable eclipse viewers or an indirect viewing method. Ordinary sunglasses are not safe for looking directly at the Sun.

It should make for a memorable evening and hopefully the Gloucestershire skies will give us a good view! 🌞🌒

We’d love to know – will you be watching tonight?

🌒 Looking to the skies tomorrow at Cedar Trust Care Homes...

Tomorrow evening, Wednesday 12th August, residents and teams across Cedar Trust Care Homes will have the opportunity to experience one of the most impressive solar eclipses visible from the UK in many years.

Here in Gloucestershire, we will experience a partial solar eclipse, with the Moon covering the vast majority of the Sun at its peak. In the Gloucester area, the eclipse is expected to begin at approximately 6:16pm, reach its maximum at around 7:12pm, and finish at approximately 8:06pm. Timings may vary very slightly depending on location.

With the Sun already getting lower in the sky by this time, anyone hoping to see it will need a reasonably clear view towards the western horizon — and, of course, some cooperation from the Gloucestershire weather! ☀️🌒

Most importantly, our residents' safety comes first. Nobody should ever look directly at the Sun, even when most of it is covered by the Moon. Where residents are taking part, our teams will be there to support and supervise safe viewing.

Avoid looking at the Sun through cameras, binoculars or telescopes unless they have the correct specialist solar filters. Indirect methods such as pinhole projection are another safe and enjoyable way to follow the eclipse.

It should be a fascinating experience and a lovely opportunity for residents and staff to enjoy something a little different together.

Will you be looking out for the eclipse tomorrow evening? 🌒

🍻 Getting ready for International Beer Day at Redlands Acre!

We’ve stocked up on a selection of beers, including alcohol-free options, along with some classic pub snacks ready for our residents to enjoy.

With an even bigger selection planned for this afternoon and into the evening—and some welcome sunshine too—we’re looking forward to a relaxed day of good company, conversation and refreshments.

What’s your favourite drink and pub snack combination? ☀️

A little friendly competition and plenty of encouragement during today’s ball games! 🏀

Residents took turns aiming for the net, putting their concentration, coordination and throwing skills to the test. There were lots of cheers when a shot went in, along with plenty of smiles and a few determined attempts from our more competitive players!

Simple activities like this are great fun while also encouraging movement, balance and coordination, helping residents to remain active and confident. A lovely session enjoyed by everyone involved.

💚 Care that puts wellbeing first...

We were incredibly touched to receive this heartfelt review from the granddaughter of a resident at Bredon View.

Moving a loved one into a new care home can be an emotional and worrying time, particularly following a difficult previous experience. From the moment her gran arrived, our team made her health, wellbeing and sense of safety the priority, ensuring she received the support she needed.

Knowing that her family now feels reassured and hopeful about seeing her thrive means a great deal to everyone at Bredon View.

Thank you to J.N. for placing your trust in our team and for sharing such kind words.

We’re proud to provide a safe, supportive and welcoming home where every resident is treated with dignity, compassion and genuine care.

💚 A warm welcome means so much...

Moving into a care home is a significant change, not only for the person receiving care but for their whole family. That’s why our team takes the time to help every new resident feel comfortable, understood and settled from the very beginning.

It’s particularly lovely to hear that the family has felt included and kept informed, and that both their mother-in-law and father-in-law have been made to feel genuinely welcome.

Thank you to J.B. for sharing such kind words. Feedback like this means a great deal to everyone at Parton House and reflects the warmth, communication and person-centred care our team works hard to provide every day.
