Practice Educational Closure - THURSDAY 18TH JUNE 2026

The Rycote Practice will be closed for essential staff training and development on Thursday 18th June from 13:00 hours. We will open again as normal at 08:00 on Friday 19th June.

This Protected Time for Learning (PTL) allows all our staff protected time to be released for educational and training sessions. We endeavour to provide additional appointments prior to and directly after this closure to minimise impact on patients.

During this time an urgent service is provided by Buckinghamshire Urgent Care, the same organisation that provides Out of Hours cover when the surgery is closed at night and at weekends. If you call the surgery during a PTL afternoon you will receive a recorded message giving you the telephone number of the Out of Hours service.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused but we hope that patients understand that this is the most efficient and cost effective way of ensuring that our staff receive all the necessary training that they require.

World Blood Donor Day: June 14th 2026

Every year countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.

A blood service that gives patients access to safe blood and blood products in sufficient quantity is a key component of an effective health system. The global theme of World Blood Donor Day changes each year in recognition of the selfless individuals who donate their blood for people unknown to them.

Diabetes Week 2026: 8 to 14 June 2026

This Diabetes Week, let's change how we talk about diabetes.

8 out of 10 people living with diabetes say they’ve faced negative attitudes because of their diabetes - people passing judgement, making sweeping statements, or blaming and shaming people living with diabetes.

This is diabetes stigma. And it causes real harm to millions.

That’s why we’re on a mission to ‘Strike Out Stigma’.

To show people that nobody chooses diabetes. That it isn’t anyone’s fault. And that by changing the way we talk about diabetes, together we can create a world where diabetes does no harm.

Men’s Health Week UK: 15-21 June 2026

According to the BUPA Wellbeing Index "50% of men have struggled with mental health difficulties at some point, yet fewer than half have sought medical advice". This is why we are encouraging everyone to raise awareness of mental health, address the stigma that surrounds it, and support our colleagues, friends and family before they reach crisis point.
