One of the biggest misconceptions about autism and ADHD is that poor mental health is simply part of being neurodivergent.

It isn’t.

What many people experience is the impact of years of feeling misunderstood, masking who they are, trying to fit into environments that weren’t designed for them, and blaming themselves for struggling.

That’s very different.

As someone who received an autism diagnosis as an adult, I know how powerful it can be when things finally start to make sense. It doesn’t change who you are, but it can completely change how you see yourself.

The more we understand neurodivergent brains, the more we realise that support, acceptance and the right environment can make an enormous difference.

💚 What are your thoughts? If you are neurodiverse, have you ever felt that your mental health was affected more by the way the world responded to you than by your neurodivergence itself?
