This week, residents enjoyed another exciting instalment of our Armchair Travels series, this time visiting Australia!

We put our knowledge to the test with Australian-themed word searches, trivia and quizzes, while learning more about the culture and famous landmarks of the Land Down Under. To round off the afternoon, residents sampled some local food and drink, bringing a taste of Australia right to our home.

This week, we held another Pyjama Day here at Ford Place!

On the first Thursday of every month, we come together in our pyjamas to help raise funds for activities and experiences for our wonderful residents. It was lovely to see so many residents getting involved and joining in the fun, helping to create a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere throughout the day.

Today we celebrated National Bow Tie Day in style by dressing for the occasion, of course! This morning, residents got creative making paper bow ties before enjoying a game on our brand-new giant Ludo board, which proved to be great fun for everyone involved. In the afternoon, we explored our artistic side, learning how to create beautiful flowers using paint and cotton buds. Everyone had a go, and the results were truly impressive, with residents producing some wonderful masterpieces. A fantastic day filled with creativity, laughter and friendly competition!

Whether it’s enjoying activities outdoors, catching up with family and friends or simply finding a quiet spot to sit back and enjoy the fresh air, our residents have certainly been making the most of them this summer.

We’ve been adding a little extra sweetness to the day as residents celebrated Cupcake Day! 🧁🍰

Our lovely Activities Coordinator treated everyone to some delicious cakes to enjoy alongside our morning games, which certainly went down well!

A simple but very tasty way to make our usual morning activities that little bit more special. 💙

🤠 A little taste of the Wild West came to Ford Place! 🌵

Our annual Summer Fête had a Country & Western twist this year, and residents, relatives and colleagues certainly embraced the theme, with some brilliant outfits helping to set the scene.

There was plenty to enjoy throughout the day, from music and delicious food to sack racing, horseshoe pitching, a raffle and tombola. Most importantly, it was a lovely opportunity for everyone to come together, have fun and enjoy the summer celebrations.

We're also delighted to have raised an amazing £365! 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, donated, helped behind the scenes or simply came along to enjoy the day. Your support helped make our Country & Western fête one to remember! 🐎🎶

Yesterday afternoon, we were delighted to welcome Alicia from Vision Rise back to Ford Place for another enjoyable gentle exercise session. 💙🤸

Residents had a wonderful time taking part in a range of movements designed to promote strength, flexibility and wellbeing, all at a pace that suited everyone. As always, Alicia made the session fun, engaging and full of encouragement, with plenty of smiles and laughter along the way.

Last week, we brought a little taste of the USA to Ford Place as we celebrated International B**r Day! 🇺🇸🍻

Residents got creative by colouring their own beer-themed pictures before enjoying an afternoon filled with music, dancing and plenty of fun. Our drinks trolley was also on hand, serving refreshments as everyone relaxed and celebrated together.

It was a brilliant afternoon of laughter, conversation and good company, with everyone raising a glass to another enjoyable themed activity. Cheers! 🍺💙

Last week, residents enjoyed one of our all-time favourite activities – a spot of baking! 🍪🧀

Together, they rolled, mixed and baked delicious homemade shortbread and cheese straws, filling the home with the wonderful smell of freshly baked treats.

Of course, no baking session would be complete without sharing! The finished goodies were delivered to our bedbound residents, who were delighted to enjoy a homemade treat and, by all accounts, absolutely devoured them. 💙
