My heart is still full from the inaugural OT is FAB Skill Exchange last week.

I am so proud of the event I have created, and grateful for the trust afforded to me by the OTs who attended to curate something that felt valuable.

OTs stepped out of their comfort zones and shared skills, their passions and embraced what others shared too.

I learned something from every person who attended.

I was reminded that Occupational Therapy is an amazing vocation, we just need to show the world what we can do.

I wrote this poem at the end of the last night and shared with attendees as part of our closing session. Sharing here is me stepping out of my comfort zone!

There will be another event next year, it wont be the same but I do hope it will be similar.

Home from the inaugural OT is FAB - Skill Exchange.

More to come later but I wanted to acknowledge all the amazing OTs that showed up and immersed themselves in all things OT.

Watch this space for more of what we got up to the last 4 days.

Right now is time for reflection, gratitude and washing!!!

A few years ago I learned that over-preparing interrupts my natural flow on the day.

So this afternoon I took time out from preparations to have coffee and a cake with a friend who are now making the most delicious cold drinks ☀️

I will be ready for Monday AND I will be rested enough to be my best self.

🌿 Bookings for The OT Skill Exchange close on 28th April at 12pm

If this has been on your radar, now's the time.

Three days in Norfolk with a small group of occupational therapists — sharing skills, swapping ideas, eating together and having the kind of conversations that don't happen in a conference centre.

No microphones. No PowerPoints. Just good CPD in a genuinely different setting.

1st–4th June 2026 — link in bio to book.

There’s something about this time of year, isn’t there?

A shift you can feel before you can fully explain it.
More light. More energy. A sense that things are… moving again.

I was reading a post yesterday, thanks Alice Hortop(and thinking about Katy Milkman’s work on temporal landmarks) — those moments in time that our brains treat as a natural “line in the sand.”

A new week.
A new month.
A new season.

Spring is one of the most powerful of these.

Not because everything is suddenly perfect —
but because change is already happening around us.

🌿 Things are growing again
🌿 We’re outside a little more
🌿 Energy starts to return (even if slowly)

And here’s the important bit:
You don’t need to have everything sorted to begin again.

That’s part of what the Occupational Therapy Skill Exchange is about.

Not arriving as the finished version of yourself.
Not having all the answers.

Just coming as you are —
curious, open, maybe a bit in-between.

Because meaningful change doesn’t happen in perfect conditions.
(It rarely does.)

It happens in spaces where people come together, share honestly, and try things out.

🌱 If you’ve been waiting for “the right time”
This might be it.

You don’t have to be the finished version to come 🐛

The OT Skill Exchange is a space for sharing, learning and reflecting — not performing.

Come with something to share, or simply come as you are.

Now over half full, so a gentle nudge if it’s been on your mind.

Today is world poetry day, here is a quick poem I wrote:

I went for a walk today,
I saw a little bird,
they say there’s something brewing,
or that is what they heard.

On the Norfolk/ Suffolk Border,
there’s a beautiful little spot,
where occupational therapists will gather,
to connect and share and learn.

They will come with their own lenses,
as well as their core skills,
their unique take on occupation,
for many activities.

There will be fire and shared food
we will build community,
we might even wave a basket,
or make a cup of tea!

The event is very special,
learning outside for a change,
do you want to join us,
at the OT skill exchange….

Over the years I've collected a lot of hats — physically and metaphorically 🎩👒🎓🧢⛑️👑

Like many people, I'm often wearing more than one hat at a time.

I'm an Occupational Therapist, but what that looks like day-to-day is pretty varied:

🧠 Supporting executives through retirement - the identity and purpose stuff beyond the money
🧩 Working with brain injury and stroke survivors rebuilding their lives
🏕️ Running the OT Skill Exchange - 3 days outdoors where OTs learn from each other
👩‍🏫 Mentoring other occupational therapists
🏊‍♀️ Cold water swimmer
🧶 Creative crafter - spinning, weaving, needle felting
👵 Volunteer treasurer at my local stroke support group
❤️ Grandma and Dog Owner 🐕

Each hat looks different but they all come back to helping people navigate change and do what matters.
If your life doesn't fit in one neat box either - you're not alone 💚
