"Social progress may have made it possible for people to come out and live openly... but what if they are still not liked?"
That question stayed with me long after watching Russell T Davies' Tip Toe.
It also made me reflect on my own childhood growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, how attitudes towards LGBTQ+ people have changed, and what those changes mean for me as a counsellor today.
Being accepting isn't simply about knowing the right words or understanding pronouns. It's about whether the person sitting opposite us genuinely feels seen, heard and accepted.
In my latest blog, I explore identity, visibility, pronouns, therapy and why gentle curiosity may be one of the most important qualities we can bring into any relationship.
I'd love to hear your thoughts after you've had a read.
