🌿 Happy Hump Day 🌿

If you've made it this far through the week, take a moment to acknowledge yourself. Even if it doesn't feel like you've accomplished much, you're still here, and that matters.

Life isn't measured by how productive you are. Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is get out of bed, take the next breath, or allow yourself to feel without judgment.

Wherever you are today, I hope you remember this: you don't have to carry everything on your own. It's okay to pause. It's okay to rest. It's okay to ask for support. Healing happens in safe spaces, gentle moments, and through the kindness we learn to offer ourselves.

Today, try speaking to yourself as you would someone you deeply love. Replace self-criticism with curiosity. Replace pressure with grace. You deserve the same compassion you so freely give to others.

May today bring you a little more peace, a little more hope, and the reminder that healing isn't about becoming someone new, it's about coming home to yourself.

Be gentle with your heart today. It's doing its very best. 💚

This week, you don’t have to earn your worth through nonstop productivity or perfection. You matter on the hard days too, even the ones where just getting through is enough.

Healing isn’t a straight line. It’s small moments: pausing before you react, asking for help, resting without guilt, being kind to yourself after a mistake.

Let this be a week of gentle persistence, not pressure. Celebrate small wins. Let go of what isn’t yours to carry. When self-doubt shows up, remember: you don’t need to be perfect to deserve love, rest, and peace.

One kind choice toward yourself can shift the whole tone of a day. I hope this week brings you calm, clarity, and a little unexpected joy.

Therapist Me: "Remember to set healthy boundaries."

Actual Me: "Sure! Just let me reply to this message... and this email... and do one more thing... and another..."

Therapist Me: "You need to prioritise yourself."

Actual Me: "I will... right after I've made sure everyone else is okay."

Therapist Me: stares silently.

😂 Sound familiar?

Here's the thing, we're all brilliant at giving ourselves the advice we struggle to follow. Even therapists are a work in progress.
Self-care isn't about being perfect. It's about catching yourself before burnout catches you.

So today, this is your permission slip (and mine):

💚 Drink the water.
💚 Take the break.
💚 Say "no" without writing a three-page apology.
💚 Stop feeling guilty for resting.

Because the world will survive if you take 20 minutes for yourself.

And if you're anything like me... this post is as much a reminder to myself as it is to you. ❤️

Who's guilty of saying, "I'll rest when everything's done"... even though we all know everything is never done? 🙋‍♀️😂

Sometimes it's movement instead of sitting still. Fresh air instead of fluorescent lights. Sunshine on your face, paws by your side, and a reminder that healing doesn't have to be complicated.

Today's prescription? Move your body. Soak up some sunshine. Breathe deeply. Let nature regulate what the week has dysregulated.

Life as a therapist means holding space for others every day. It's a privilege, but it also means I have to be intentional about looking after myself too.

This is one of the ways I decompress after a full day in the office. 🥊

Being a working mum, navigating the summer holidays with two children while running a practice, can feel like a constant balancing act. Some days flow beautifully, and other days it's about simply making it through.

For me, hitting the punch bag isn't about aggression, it's about releasing stress, clearing my mind, and reconnecting with myself before I step back into the many other roles I hold.

As therapists, parents, carers, or anyone juggling multiple responsibilities, we often remind others of the importance of self-care. The challenge is remembering that we deserve it too.

Whatever your version of a punch bag looks like, a walk, the gym, a coffee with a friend, or ten minutes of quiet, I hope you're making time for it.

You can't pour from an empty cup. 💛

How do you decompress?

The way we speak to ourselves matters.

So often, we offer compassion, patience, and understanding to the people we love, yet speak to ourselves in ways we would never speak to someone else.

That inner voice can shape how we see ourselves, how we cope with challenges, and how we move through the world.

Try pausing today and noticing: What am I saying to myself?

If your inner dialogue is harsh or critical, you don’t have to change it overnight. Start by asking:

“Would I say this to someone I care about?”
“What would a kinder, more compassionate response sound like?”

Self-compassion isn't about ignoring our struggles or avoiding accountability. It's about learning to support ourselves through them.

You deserve to feel safe in your own mind, too.

What is one kind thing you can say to yourself today?

I’ve been watching Ann Droid, Diane Morgan’s brilliant series, and honestly, it has made me laugh until I’ve cried, and then, at times, brought a very real tear to my eye.

On the surface, it’s wonderfully deadpan, dry and absurd. The kind of humour that catches you off guard and gives you a proper belly laugh.

But underneath the comedy are some deeply human themes: loss, grief, loneliness, ageing, connection, and what it means to be human in a world that can sometimes feel increasingly disconnected.

What I love most is the compassion woven through it all. The humour never seems to take away from the reality of these experiences; instead, it somehow makes space for us to look at them, sit with them, and perhaps even recognise something of ourselves or someone we love.

I’ve cried with laughter watching it, but I’ve also shed a tear at the realness of some of the moments, those quiet reminders that, for many people, loneliness, loss and ageing aren’t just themes in a TV series. They are someone’s everyday reality.

And perhaps that’s what makes it such a brilliant watch. It reminds us that laughter and sadness can sit side by side. That finding humour in the difficult things doesn’t diminish their importance. Sometimes, it’s part of how we make sense of them.

A genuinely funny, thoughtful and surprisingly poignant watch. ❤️
