Cervical screening can help prevent cervical cancer, so it's important to take up your invitation.

If you have missed yours, the NHS may invite you to take an HPV self-test.

If this is an option for you, you will be invited to order a kit, take your sample and return it by post, for free.

You can't opt-in to HPV self-testing - if you are eligible, you will be contacted, first by the NHS App (so please make sure you have notifications turned on) and other methods where necessary.

Many patients assume NHS App notifications are already switched on — but for lots of people, they aren’t. Across Stockton-on-Tees, many NHS App notifications didn’t reach patients simply because notifications were turned off.
You can help by checking your settings and turning notifications ON

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻:
Open the NHS App > Tap the person icon > Select Notifications > Switch them ON

If you don’t use the NHS App yet, it’s free, secure, and gives you easy access to your appointments, test results, prescriptions and other NHS services:

Use the NHS App to view your health information and manage your healthcare online using a phone, tablet or computer.

Daniel, one of our patients, talks about why getting the flu vaccine is important.
If you have a learning disability, you may be entitled to a free flu vaccine. The vaccine is quick, safe, and helps protect you from becoming seriously unwell this winter.

You may also be eligible if you:

✅ Are aged 65 or over
✅ Are pregnant
✅ Have certain long-term health conditions
✅ Are a carer

If you're not sure whether you can have a flu vaccine, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

As Daniel mentions in the video, we want to make your visit as comfortable as possible. If you need any reasonable adjustments, such as a quieter waiting area, extra time, clear communication, or anything else that would help, please let us know. We're here to support you.
