We wanted to share this opportunity from Youth Works for families who home educate. They are looking to start a new Home Educated Group in September, and are hosting an informal coffee afternoon on Friday 7th August for anyone interested in learning more.

Every year, your feedback helps build a clear picture of what is working well and where services need to improve for children and young people with SEND and their families.

Last year’s survey established an important baseline. This year’s results will help measure whether things are improving, staying the same, or getting worse following the Local Area Partnership’s improvement work since the Ofsted/CQC inspection.

The survey is independently facilitated by Northamptonshire Parent Carer Voices and co-produced with local partners to ensure we are asking the questions that matter most to families.

𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟭𝟯: 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 & 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 🍕

This video introduces a range of food-related signs to help children and young people communicate during mealtimes and everyday activities.

Signalong is a sign-supported communication system that uses key word signs alongside speech, helping to improve understanding, encourage expression, and reduce frustration when communication is difficult.

In this session, our trainer Sara demonstrates practical signs including pizza, pasta, spaghetti, salad, vegetables, burger, and sandwich, supporting children and young people to communicate their likes, dislikes, choices, and preferences.

This video is designed to support parents, carers, and professionals to feel confident using Signalong in everyday situations.

Schools can seek specialist advice and support at any stage of SEND Support. Early intervention can help to identify needs, remove barriers to learning, and ensure the right support is put in place as soon as possible.

Depending on a child's needs, schools may work with a range of services, including:

🔶 Specialist Support Service (SSS)
🔶 Educational Psychology Service (EPS)
🔶 Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)
🔶 Occupational Therapy (OT)
🔶 CAMHS and Mental Health Support Teams (MHST)
🔶 Outreach and inclusion services

If you feel your child may benefit from additional support, you can speak with their school and ask whether a referral to an appropriate service may be helpful.
