πŸ–€ Telling someone your story & sharing your trauma for the first time can be terrifying - but also one of the most courageous things a survivor can do.

πŸ–€ Fear of not only being judged but of shock, silence, disbelief.

πŸ–€ A survivor experiencing that could walk away more damaged & ashamed than before.

πŸ–€ As therapists, it's our job to create the safe non judgemental space where survivors feel safe & held.

πŸ–€ It can take time to build that relationship of trust but always worth it when someone feels safe enough to share their story & leave with a little less shame than when they entered the room.

❓ Who helps with your self belief & positive mindset?

πŸ”οΈ Today was a first for me - climbing a Munro - solo. Life changing news? πŸ™‚β€β†”οΈ No, but as someone is always holding space for others, it was a great opportunity to reflect on where I am on my journey.

πŸ“ At our last meeting Kayleigh Kayleigh | Running + Mindset Coach 🧠 πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ suggested a walk/trek/climb instead of the long run planned as my achilles isn't playing ball at the moment. I thought nothing of it, no big deal & planned to climb Ben Hope this morning.

πŸ’ It was only as I was climbing that it occurred to me how prepared I was without realising it.
⭐ The prep of nutrition, hydration, kit is all second nature.
⭐ Being aware of the controllables & non controllables, again second nature.
⭐There were no second thoughts even though the conditions were not ideal.
⭐ I was excited at tackling the challenge alone.
⭐There were no doubts or negative voices from the past questioning my decisions.
⭐ I've discovered I make the best, sensible (not always my strong point.....) decisions for myself when the past voices are not present.

πŸ‘Š To realise how self assured I feel, to know my capabilities, be aware of my limitations but to work with them not let them stop me is incredibly liberating & empowering.

πŸƒI signed up with Kayleigh looking for a running coach expecting to improve my running ability but did not anticipate the massive shift in mindset & how that would increase my self belief.

πŸ™ We're on the wonderful journey of human life together & are blessed if we have people in our corner who will be our champions & supporters - whether that's physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually.

πŸ’ͺ Being able to ask for & accept that support/help/encouragement is a strength not a weakness.

❓Who helps you with your self belief or positive mindset?
❓Who can you reach out to & ask for support?

❀️ Kayleigh will say I've done all the work (that's what I say to my clients 😁) but her knowledge & expertise in training & planning have been massively instrumental.

🫁 The Physiological Sigh:

The fastest voluntary way to the body's natural resting state involves 2 short inhales followed by 1 long exhale.

🫁 The 2nd inhale helps reopen alveoli that may have partially collapsed, improving oxygen exchange.

🫁 The long exhale activates the parasympathetic recovery system via the vagus nerve & other pathways, which can reduce heart rate & feelings of stress.

❓ Want to give it a go?

πŸ‘ƒ Take 2 quick inhales through the nose

πŸ‘„ Let the exhale go long & slow through the mouth

πŸ” Repeat a few times at your own pace

πŸ’¬ Notice where you are holding pressure in your body?
