This one is what health and fitness should be all about:
"My uGym Story
I had never been in a gym before. At 80, I’d always kept active through badminton, golf, swimming, aerobics and walking. But after having an arthritic hip replaced in 2014, walking was really all I had left.
Then, recently, I tripped in the street and broke my wrist. It was only a small break, but it made me worry about becoming more fearful and frail as I got older.
I read that weight training could be hugely beneficial at any age, so I joined uGym in May and started UBar with Steven Ramsay.
At first, I lifted an empty bar and used 1kg dumbbells. My goal was simply to keep up with the class. Four months later, I’m adding weights to the bar and using 2kg dumbbells!
I don’t go down to the floor for exercises, but Steven always gives me alternatives.
Most importantly, I feel a change in myself. I feel taller, stronger and less scared.
I’m not expecting miracles. I just want to stay strong, avoid getting worse and, if I do fall, be better able to cope.
I do two 30-minute sessions a week - and I genuinely enjoy them.
You’re never too old to get stronger. ❤️"
