This one is what health and fitness should be all about:

"My uGym Story

I had never been in a gym before. At 80, I’d always kept active through badminton, golf, swimming, aerobics and walking. But after having an arthritic hip replaced in 2014, walking was really all I had left.

Then, recently, I tripped in the street and broke my wrist. It was only a small break, but it made me worry about becoming more fearful and frail as I got older.

I read that weight training could be hugely beneficial at any age, so I joined uGym in May and started UBar with Steven Ramsay.

At first, I lifted an empty bar and used 1kg dumbbells. My goal was simply to keep up with the class. Four months later, I’m adding weights to the bar and using 2kg dumbbells!

I don’t go down to the floor for exercises, but Steven always gives me alternatives.

Most importantly, I feel a change in myself. I feel taller, stronger and less scared.

I’m not expecting miracles. I just want to stay strong, avoid getting worse and, if I do fall, be better able to cope.

I do two 30-minute sessions a week - and I genuinely enjoy them.

You’re never too old to get stronger. ❤️"

❗uGym Team Sponsor ❗

Meet Team Henderson 🥌

"We are Team Henderson, Great Britain’s top-funded women’s curling team, currently ranked 37th in the world. Our short-term goal is to break into the world’s top 15 by the end of this season, while our long-term ambition is to represent Great Britain at the 2030 Olympic Winter Games.

All five members of our team are fully committed to building this journey together and achieving our goals. We train daily at the National Training Centre at The Peak in Stirling, alongside strength and conditioning sessions at Stirling University Gym, ensuring we are continually developing both on and off the ice.

Our competition schedule takes us around the world, having previously competed in Canada, Switzerland, Scotland, Estonia, Norway and Sweden. Most recently, we proudly represented Scotland at the Women’s World Championship in Calgary in March.

We have an exciting season ahead, including competing at the European Championships in the Czech Republic and the Women’s World Championship, where we will continue to challenge ourselves against the very best in the sport.

We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors and partners, including UGym, for their continued support throughout our journey. Their commitment and belief in our team plays a huge part in helping us achieve our ambitions, both on and off the ice.

This is our journey — and we’re only getting started."

Stop Guessing, Start Measuring. What’s Really Under the Surface?

We all know the feeling of stepping on the scales and seeing the same number, or even seeing it go up, despite training hard. But the scale only tells you your total mass. It doesn't tell you what makes up that mass.

That’s where Body Composition Analysis at uGym comes in!

We don't use guesswork or cheap hand-held sensors. Our analysis uses a combination of precise, gold-standard methods:

1. Total Bodyweight: We track your base metric, but context is everything.

2. Regional Measurements: We measure key points (chest, waist, hips, arms) to reveal where you are building muscle and leaning out.

3. Skinfold Calipers: The classic "pinch" test is a cornerstone for professional trainers. We use calipers to provide an accurate estimate of your body fat percentage, separating your fat mass from your lean muscle mass.

The Benefit: By understanding these metrics, we can optimize your training and nutrition plans. No more wasted effort. No more guessing.

🔥THE CHEST FINISHER THAT WILL LEAVE YOU ON THE FLOOR 🔥

If you’ve got anything left in the tank at the end of your chest session, this is how you empty it.

We’re taking your pecs to absolute failure with a brutal, high-yield triset. Leave your ego at the door - this isn’t about chasing heavy numbers. It’s about maximum blood flow, relentless tension, and that deep, agonizing burn.

THE TRISET
Perform these 3 movements back-to-back:

Incline DB Bench Press ➔ 10 Reps

Incline DB Flyes ➔ 10 Reps

Bodyweight Push-Ups ➔ 10 Reps (or to absolute failure)

THE RULES
Sets: 3 Rounds

Rest: Minimal to 30 seconds max between sets

🔴Focus: Control the tempo, squeeze hard at the top, and chase the mind-muscle connection - not the weight plate.

🔴Pro-Tip: Lower the weight on the flyes to protect your shoulders and keep the tension strictly on the upper pecs.

Save this for your next chest day
