Let’s be honest 💚

Learning tools and developing coping skills are not a cure for trauma. They won’t erase what happened or reprocess the memories, but having the right tools can make such a big difference to our lives.

They’ll help you stay in your window of tolerance instead of being swept away and give you something to reach for when a trigger hits. Having the right tools and skills can help you move through the hard moments without losing yourself to them.

I’m not saying its the only work, but is certainly a vital part of it! Having tools that actually work is huge when you have spent a lifetime living with and responding to your trauma.

That’s why I created the Trauma Toolbox Essentials, a practical, trauma-informed digital workbook packed with the tools I use every day in my therapy room.

✨ Inside you’ll find:

→ Tools to calm your nervous system when it’s in overdrive
→ Grounding techniques to bring you back to the present
→ Ways to understand and manage your trauma responses
→ Emotional regulation tools you can actually use in real life
→ A framework to build your own personal toolkit

Sometimes what people expect from trauma work isn’t what good trauma work actually looks like.

So here is what I’m actually doing with my clients.

🌿 Teaching them to understand their nervous system, not fight it.
🌿 Helping them recognise their window of tolerance and what pushes them out of it.
🌿 Showing them how to use their breath, their body, and their senses to come back to the present.
🌿 Building awareness of triggers before they become full overwhelm.
🌿 Practising grounding, not as a gimmick, but as a genuine skill.
🌿 Developing emotional regulation tools they can reach for in real life.
🌿 Moving them slowly from self-criticism toward self-compassion.

You deffo will not find me pushing anyone to process before they have the stability and resources to do it safely, because that’s not safe and it is just not good therapy.

That’s why use The Trauma Toolbox Essentials, a practical, trauma-informed workbook you can use to start understanding your responses and building real skills for emotional regulation.

I see so many amazing therapists struggling to find balance, and I understand how juggling client work over a long career can feel challenging. That’s why diversifying your offerings can help to make things more sustainable so that you can continue doing what you love and showing up for clients in the way that you want to.

Adding clinical supervision to your practice gives you variety, connection with other professionals, and a way to share your knowledge and impact even more clients in different ways.

If you’ve been thinking about offering supervision but haven’t known where to start, Setting Up for Supervision Success has everything you need in one place.

🌿 Frameworks to get started.
🌿 Done for you documentation.

Sometimes what people expect from trauma therapy isn't what good trauma therapy actually looks like.

I often wonder if that gap, between the expectation and the reality, stops a lot of people from ever starting.

So after 20 years, here's what I actually do. And what you won't find me doing:

🌿 Pressure to talk about everything at once.
🌿 The assumption you need to relive everything to heal from it.
🌿 A one-size-fits-all approach, your story is yours.

What you will find is someone genuinely committed to keeping you safe, moving at your pace, and helping you build the skills and understanding that make lasting change possible.

If we are being honest then you probably already have the experience and the skills.

What you really need is a clear, practical framework to actually set it up for supervision, without the overwhelm of figuring it all out from scratch.

That's what Setting Up for Supervision Success is, created after so many therapists asking for my templates!

Inside you'll find everything you need to move from "I've been thinking about offering supervision" to confidently integrating it into your practice.

✨ A clear structure for getting started. Practical agreements
✨ Professional documentation.
✨ Guidance on defining your supervision niche and style.
✨ Strategies to establish yourself as the go-to supervisor in your area.

All the building blocks that make it straightforward to begin. So if you've been sitting on this idea, then this is your sign.

When my clients first come to me, most of them say some version of the same thing.

“My childhood was pretty normal.”
“Nothing that bad happened to me.”
“I don’t know why I’m like this.”

And then we start to look a little closer and we find that trauma doesn’t always look like a dramatic event, sometimes it looks like a childhood where nobody really saw you.

Where emotions weren’t talked about and you learnt to be small, capable, and not cause a fuss.

Years later this can show up as anxiety, self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, and a persistent sense that something is wrong with you.

I want you to know that there is nothing is wrong with you. This about what happened to you and you deserve support to understand it 💚

Honestly? People ask me this a lot 😄

And yes, trauma therapy is not a light undertaking, the work is real, the stories are heavy and the responsibility is significant. However, it is also one of the most extraordinary privileges I have ever known.

To sit with someone who has spent their whole life believing something is fundamentally wrong with them, and watch them begin to understand that it was never about them as a person, but what happened to them. That’s not depressing at all, that’s the most meaningful work I can imagine.

Do I have hard days? Yes. Do I look after myself and work with a supervisor? Absolutely, and I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t acknowledge that I have to work on taking care of myself.

But do I feel lucky to do this work? Every single day 💚
