Well I have been down some rabbit holes this week! I was doing some investigating into my own family, following on from a message from a potential relative on Ancestry. I was looking into descendents of my 2x great grandmother's half brother (yes that was a tangent all of its own) when I found that his daughter was a witness at a murder trial. A good hour or so later and I have not only read all the newspaper articles on the trial, I have traced both the victim and the perpetrator's families and googled the executioner!!
Oddly enough both my 2x great grandmother's half brother and their mother, were named in another murder trial some years earlier. Maybe it was just a rough area!?

This is so true! Census records in particular are often wrong. Place of birth can be wrong for so many reasons.
Just because something is written down does not make it true.

Another enjoyable episode of WDYTYA last night. I just wish they spent more than an hour on each person. I would have loved to know more about his English and Irish ancestors. Oh well looks like I will have to do my own research and some tree hopping!
