🦶 Think you might have a fungal nail? Here's something worth knowing before you start treatment...

Not every discoloured or thickened nail is actually a fungal infection. In fact, studies show that even healthcare professionals can get it wrong when they rely on appearance alone. Nail psoriasis, old trauma, and certain skin conditions can all look very similar.

That's why confirming the diagnosis before starting treatment really matters — and why we use the PreventID Dermatophyte test in our clinic.

Here's how it works:
🔬 We take a tiny clipping from your nail
💧 It goes into a small test tube with a few drops of solution
⏱️ Five minutes later, you have your answer — right there in the appointment

It's 97% accurate, works even if you're already using a nail lacquer or treatment, and means you leave knowing exactly what's going on — rather than waiting weeks for a lab result.

If it's fungal, we can discuss treatment straight away. If it's not, we can start looking at what's really behind it.

Time out of clinic for some learning. Tim brought in Fuzzy - his portable ultrasound machine. A great opportunity for Holly to see anatomy visually and good top up for me, Alison. Also good to know my muscles and tendons are all fine! Valuable time spent with the team
