“The Map of The Psyche” ~ Jungian model
I’ve been fascinated by the human psyche for many years and have explored a lot of Carl Jung’s psychology theories.
In 2024 having endured a really difficult time of family related trauma around addition I found myself in counselling with an amazing counsellor called Dr Jo Murphy who is a Jungian analysis, I’ve stuck to having sessions with her ever since! This has allowed me to not only heal through deep emotional layers but discover patterns and articulate varying facets of my own psychological framework.

Jung’s model explained.
The psyche consists of conscious and unconscious elements, with the ego at the center of consciousness and the self at the center of the whole psyche.
The persona is the mask presented to the world, while the shadow contains repressed, forgotten, or unlived aspects of the self.
Anima (in men) and animus (in women) represent the inner opposite-gender aspects that mediate between the individual and the inner world.
Psychological growth involves integrating the unconscious with the conscious, especially through engaging with the shadow and other unconscious complexes.
The goal of individuation is an ongoing journey toward becoming one’s true self.
