The Wood element 木 governs the Liver and Gallbladder. Its job is to keep qi moving freely through the body — smoothly, evenly, in all directions. When Wood energy flows well, we feel flexible, decisive, able to grow and adapt. When it stagnates, we feel it as frustration, irritability, tension — the classic signs of what practitioners call Liver qi stagnation.
Trees embody the balance perfectly: deeply rooted, yet never rigid. They bend in the wind without breaking, and they never stop reaching upward. That’s the quality Wood asks us to cultivate.
So when life feels stuck, time among trees is more than a nice walk — it’s spending time with the element that knows how to flow. The forest has been prescribing this for longer than any of us 🌿
