🦶 FEET FRIDAY 🦶

Love them or hate them…..Let’s talk about feet.

Your feet are your foundations. They’re not simply supports at the end of your legs…..they’re incredibly complex structures packed with sensory receptors, constantly sending information to your nervous system about pressure, movement, position and the ground beneath you.

That information helps your body make constant adjustments that contribute to balance, coordination, posture and the way you move through the world. Every step begins with your feet.

But years of shoes, limited movement, repetitive activity and simply asking our feet to carry us around all day can leave them feeling stiff and restricted and when your foundations aren’t moving and sensing as well as they could, the rest of your body may have to adapt.

So this is ā€œFeet Fridayā€ā€¦. a reminder to give those hardworking feet some attention. Move them. Stretch them. Massage them. Let them feel the ground beneath you because your foundations deserve some love too ā¤ļø

Don’t want to do it yourself? Book an appointment and I’ll do it for youšŸ˜‰šŸ¦¶

Unmute your feet.
Unmute your body🦶🧠

ā˜€ļø CARPE DIEM — SEIZE THE DAY! ā˜€ļø

One of the downsides of having a busy diary is that I don’t often get the luxury of being spontaneous.

However, an unexpected opportunity came along for a very last minute holiday and some quality family time with my daughter before she heads back to university and I decided to grab the opportunity ā¤ļø

Our spontaneous adventure took us to Morocco and what an incredible time we’ve had. We’ve explored the bustling souks and winding streets of the Medina, wandered through beautiful secret gardens, discovered incredible palaces, ventured out into the desert, experienced a traditional Hammam, enjoyed a massage and generally soaked up as much of Marrakech as we possibly could 🐫

A massive THANK YOU to all my wonderful clients who were so kind and understanding when I asked if we could move their appointments either forwards or back. I know how important your appointments are and I genuinely appreciate you being so flexible and supportive, allowing me to make the most of this opportunity.

Another HUGE thank you goes to my amazing family and friends who came together to look after my pooch while we were away 🐾Without you, this holiday simply wouldn’t have been possible and knowing she was so well cared for meant we could properly relax and enjoy ourselves. I really do feel incredibly lucky to have such amazing people around me ā¤ļø

This trip has reminded me of the importance seizing the day. We spend so much of our lives working, planning and waiting for the right time to do things but….sometimes you have to put the diary down, grab the opportunity and make those memories ā¤ļø

Thank you again to my clients, family and friends for making this spontaneous little adventure possible. My soul feels nourished from discovering the warmth and beauty of the people of Morocco, while my heart feels full from the precious time spent with the people I love. I arrived home this morning feeling refreshed, re-energised and truly truly grateful šŸ™šŸ»

✨ SKIN ROLLING — A DIFFERENT WAY OF WORKING WITH FASCIA

I’ve recently started incorporating skin rolling on dry skin into some of my massage treatments.

I’ve used skin rolling for many years, but traditionally with wax/oil. The difference when working on dry skin is quite remarkable because, with this technique, you actually need a little friction.

Rather than simply sliding over the surface of the skin, dry skin allows me to gently pick up a fold of tissue between my fingers and thumbs and roll it, creating movement through the superficial layers.

Our skin and the tissues underneath it aren’t simply separate layers sitting on top of our muscles. They’re connected through a vast network of fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds, supports and links muscles, organs, nerves and other structures throughout the body.

When these tissues become less mobile or restricted, they can feel tight, stuck or less able to glide freely over one another.

Here, I’m using my hands to pick up a small fold of tissue and gently roll it between my fingers, working progressively through an area and paying close attention to how the tissues feel and move.

Sometimes you can feel areas where the tissue moves beautifully… and then suddenly you come across a spot where it feels much less mobile, almost as though it’s stuck.

That’s where this technique becomes particularly interesting.

Because the skin is connected to the layers beneath it through connective tissue, including the superficial fascia, skin rolling gives me another way to assess how freely these tissues are moving and to work with areas that feel less mobile or restricted.

It can create a lovely sense of movement between the layers and is a completely different sensation to traditional oil-based massage.

It’s gentle, but surprisingly effective, and it gives me yet another effect way of working with the body. šŸ™Œ

There’s something rather magical about standing beneath the sky and witnessing an astronomical events to remind us just how small and connected we are to the world around us ✨

We made ourselves a little pinhole camera to watch the eclipse but….. the most spectacular view was completely unexpected and was a projection through the leaves of my wisteria onto an inside door šŸŒ³ā˜€ļøšŸŒ‘

There’s something restorative about noticing the light and shadows, marvelling at the universe doing its thing and allowing ourselves a moment of awe 🌿

I love it when we are reminded to stop, slow down enough to notice the extraordinary things that are happening around us ā¤ļø

✨ The Sternum: A Small Area That Can Make a Big Difference ✨

When most people think of massage, they think of neck, back or shoulders but one of the most overlooked areas of the body is the sternum (breastbone).

Many people carry tension through the muscles and fascia that attach around the sternum, chest and rib cage. Long hours at a desk, stress, shallow breathing, previous injuries or even protective postures can leave this area feeling tight without us even realising it.

When working around the sternum….

It can help improve breathing.
The muscles between the ribs and those attaching to the sternum play an important role in expanding the rib cage. Releasing tension here may help the chest move more freely, allowing for deeper, more comfortable breathing.

It can help reduce neck and shoulder tension.
When the chest muscles become shortened or tight, they can pull the shoulders forwards, contributing to discomfort in the neck, shoulders and upper back. Treating the front of the body is often just as important as treating the back.
supports better posture
Improving the mobility of the chest wall can make it easier to stand taller and move more efficiently, especially when combined with exercises to strengthen the upper back.

It can help calm the nervous system.
The sternum sits over the heart and lungs and gentle, slow touch in this area is thought to stimulate sensory receptors that encourage relaxation. Many clients notice their breathing slows, their shoulders soften and they feel a deep sense of calm during treatment.

It improves tissue mobility.
The fascia over the chest can become restricted over time. Gentle, skilled hands-on techniques can help improve the glide between tissues, making movement feel easier and more comfortable.

Sometimes the key to relieving shoulder, neck or upper back pain isn’t found where it hurts, it’s found by creating space and restoring balance elsewhere.

Have you ever had treatment to the front of your chest? It often surprises people just how much of a difference this gentle work can make.

A few photos of this week’s office….šŸŒæšŸ¤āœØ

It’s been a bit of a hybrid week for me this week. My mornings have been spent in my treatment room with my lovely clients, while my afternoons have been at a beautiful wellness retreat, providing restorative massage treatments in the most peaceful surroundings.

It has been such a privilege to support guests as they took time to slow down, reset and invest in their wellbeing. Holding space for deep relaxation and restoration is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do and this week has been filled with meaningful conversations, calm moments and the pleasure of meeting some truly lovely people.

I feel incredibly grateful to be asked to work in such different yet equally rewarding settings.

Thank you to everyone who trusted me with their wellbeing this week….it has been a pleasure 🄰

✨ The Glow Everyone Keeps Asking About… ✨

Lately, so many people have complimented me on my skin and asked what I use, so I thought I’d share a simple, homemade facial oil blend.

One of the things I love most about this recipe is that it’s made with 100% organic oils. Pure, natural ingredients can be incredibly nourishing for the skin and this blend has become a favourite in my skincare routine.

🌿 Why these oils?

šŸ’› Organic Castor Oil – Known as one of the deepest penetrating carrier oils, castor oil is rich in fatty acids that help nourish and support the skin’s natural barrier while locking in moisture.

šŸ’š Organic Jojoba Oil – Jojoba oil is the closest match to our skin’s own natural sebum. This means it absorbs beautifully, helps balance oil production and leaves skin feeling soft without feeling greasy.

🌹 Organic Rosehip Oil – Packed with vitamins A and C and essential fatty acids, rosehip oil helps improve the appearance of skin tone, supports collagen production, and gives the skin a healthy, radiant glow.

✨ Organic Frankincense Essential Oil – A beautiful essential oil prized for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps soothe the skin, supports a more even complexion and is often used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and blemishes.

My Homemade Glow Blend

In an amber glass bottle, combine:

• 30ml organic jojoba oil
• 20ml organic castor oil
• 10ml organic rosehip oil
• 15-20 drops organic frankincense essential oil

Shake gently before each use.

Apply 3–5 drops to the skin morning or evening, gently massaging into your face and neck.

Our skin is our largest organ and what we put on it matters. I love knowing exactly what’s in my skincare and using simple, organic ingredients that work in harmony with the skin.

Everyone’s skin is unique, so I always recommend carrying out a patch test first and introducing any new skincare product gradually 🄰

If you make this blend, I’d love to hear how you get on. Here’s to healthy, glowing skin
naturally! ✨🌿
