Meet the medics behind the microsuction 👋

First up - Kirstin…

Not only is Kirstin a registered nurse, Midwife, Nurse Specialist in Occupational Health and the Co-founder of Wiltshire Ear Wax Removal…

She's a horror-loving, former tarantula owner, who loves to rustle up a veggie stew 🕷️

When Kirstin isn't clearing ears in our Westbury clinic you might find her playing with her grandkids in the garden or wandering in the woods listening to a podcast.

She's a big reader too and particularly rates anything with a good death count (we promise this doesn't affect her bedside manner) 😄

Just ask anyone who's been treated by Kirstin and they'll tell you she's warm, unhurried and completely unflappable. Probably because nothing fazes a woman who used to keep tarantulas.

Something worth knowing before you book ear wax removal with just anyone 👂

In the UK, there's no legal requirement for ear wax removal practitioners to hold any specific qualifications. Anyone can set up and start treating patients.

And we think that's worth talking about. Not to alarm you, but because we believe you deserve to know what to look for.

Your ears are irreplaceable. The skin inside the ear canal is delicate, the eardrum is close and when something goes wrong it can be painful, damaging and difficult to reverse. This isn't a treatment to hand to just anyone.

One month in at White Horse Health Centre, Westbury and what a month it's been! 🏥🎉

In our first four weeks at our new clinic space, we've helped 85 amazing patients hear clearly again. That still blows us away every time we say it.

And while the clinic has been keeping us busy, we've also been out and about across Wiltshire. Visiting patients in their own homes from Trowbridge to Melksham, Corsham, Bradford on Avon and beyond.

To every single patient who's trusted us with their ear care this July - thank you. You've made our first month in Westbury everything we hoped it would be and much more.

The clinic in Westbury has been wonderful, but we still really love going out on home visits - it's such a privilege to be able to help someone in the comfort of their own living room, kitchen, or wherever they feel most at ease.

Home visits are perfect if you struggle to get around, don't have easy access to transport, or simply prefer the familiarity of your own space. There's no travelling, no waiting rooms - just us coming to you, wherever you are across Wiltshire.

That's never going to change. 🏠

Happy Summer Holidays! ☀️✈️🏊

Whether you're jetting off somewhere sunny, heading to the UK coastline, or chilling out at home in Wiltshire, we hope you have a wonderful summer.

One thing we do see a little more of at this time of year is blocked ears.

Why?

✈️ Flying can make changes in air pressure much more noticeable if ear wax is already blocking the ear canal.

🏊 Swimming doesn't usually cause ear wax, but water can soften or swell existing wax, making it feel like your ears have suddenly become blocked.

If your ears feel muffled, blocked, uncomfortable or your hearing isn't right after a flight or a swim, don't just put up with it.

We're here to help, whether you'd prefer a home visit or an appointment at our Westbury clinic.

We've had a few people ask us "Do I have to be registered with the GP surgery to book an appointment at Westbury White Horse Health Centre with you?"

The answer is... not at all!

Our clinic in Westbury is open to everyone, whether you're registered there or not.

It's perfect if you live or work nearby, need an appointment quickly, or would simply prefer to visit us in a calm clinic setting rather than having treatment at home.

And if home visits suit you better? Don't worry - we're still travelling across Wiltshire as usual.

It's all about giving you the choice to book the appointment that works best for you.

Another Thursday clinic complete! 👂✨

It's been another busy day meeting lovely people, helping blocked ears and hearing plenty of "I can't believe how much better I can hear!"

Thank you to everyone who came to see us this week. We're so pleased our new clinic has been such a positive addition, while still being able to offer home visits across Wiltshire too.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and we'll be back next week ready to do it all again. 😊

Did you always dream of doing ear wax removal? 😄

Honestly? No. But we did dream of helping people from a very young age and that's exactly why we became nurses.

Emma knew she wanted to be a nurse from the age of 14. Her dream was midwifery, bringing new life into the world.

Kirstin fell in love with healthcare even younger, a family member was diagnosed with diabetes as a child, and something about the hospital environment just lit her up. The care, the people, the sense that something important was happening. She was hooked.

We both spent years doing what we loved as Registered Nurses (and we still work as nurses now).

But when ear wax removal was quietly dropped by the NHS, we started seeing people struggling everywhere. Friends, family, people in our community suffering with blocked ears, muffled hearing, not being able to follow a conversation. A simple problem with no easy solution.

So we decided to do something about it.

That's how Wiltshire Ear Wax Removal was born. Not a childhood dream exactly - but every bit as rewarding.
