πŸ’™ PTSD in Men: The Hidden Battle Many Face πŸ’™

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can affect anyone, but many men struggle in silence.

PTSD develops after experiencing or witnessing traumatic events such as military combat, emergency service work, accidents, violence, abuse, serious illness, or other life-threatening situations. While the trauma may be over, the mind and body can remain stuck in survival mode.

In men, PTSD may not always look like what people expect.

Common signs can include:
πŸ”Ή Anger or irritability
πŸ”Ή Emotional numbness
πŸ”Ή Difficulty sleeping or nightmares
πŸ”Ή Hypervigilance (always feeling on edge)
πŸ”Ή Flashbacks or intrusive memories
πŸ”Ή Withdrawal from family and friends
πŸ”Ή Increased use of alcohol or substances
πŸ”Ή Anxiety, depression, or feelings of hopelessness

Many men are taught to "stay strong," "get on with it," or "keep their feelings to themselves." Unfortunately, this can make it harder to recognise when support is needed.

PTSD is not a sign of weakness. It is a natural response to overwhelming experiences. Seeking help takes courage, and recovery is possible.

With the right support, treatment, understanding, and connection, people can learn to manage symptoms, rebuild relationships, and regain control of their lives.

If you're struggling, please remember:
πŸ’™ You are not weak.
πŸ’™ You are not alone.
πŸ’™ Help is available.
πŸ’™ Recovery is possible.

Talking about mental health saves lives.

πŸ‘¨ Mental Health Matters for Men πŸ‘¨

Many men face challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, trauma, and burnout. Too often these struggles remain hidden.

This Men's Health Month, let's encourage:
βœ… Open conversations
βœ… Checking in on friends and family
βœ… Seeking support when needed
βœ… Prioritising self-care and wellbeing

Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Together, we can create a culture where no one feels they have to struggle alone.

πŸ’™ Understanding Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) πŸ’™

Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD), sometimes known as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), is a mental health condition that affects how a person experiences emotions, relationships, and their sense of self.

People living with EUPD often feel emotions much more intensely than others. A small setback, disagreement, or feeling of rejection can trigger overwhelming distress, fear, anger, sadness, or anxiety. These emotions are very real and can be incredibly difficult to manage.

Someone with EUPD may experience:
πŸ”Ή Rapid mood changes
πŸ”Ή Intense fear of abandonment or rejection
πŸ”Ή Difficulties maintaining relationships
πŸ”Ή Impulsive behaviours
πŸ”Ή Feelings of emptiness
πŸ”Ή Challenges with self-image and identity
πŸ”Ή Self-harm or thoughts of su***de during times of crisis

It is important to remember that EUPD is not a choice, a character flaw, or someone "being difficult." Many people with EUPD have experienced significant trauma, adversity, or invalidating experiences in their lives.

With understanding, support, and appropriate treatment such as talking therapies, many people with EUPD learn effective coping strategies, build healthy relationships, and lead fulfilling lives.

Compassion, patience, and reducing stigma can make a huge difference. Mental health recovery is possible, and nobody should have to face it alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling, reaching out for professional support is a sign of strength, not weakness. πŸ’™

πŸ’™ Welcome to June – Men's Health Month & PTSD Awareness Month πŸ’™

Throughout June, we recognise two important awareness campaigns that encourage understanding, support, and open conversations around mental health.

πŸ‘¨ Men's Health Month highlights the importance of men's physical and mental wellbeing.

πŸŽ—οΈ PTSD Awareness Month raises awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the impact trauma can have on individuals, families, and communities.

Together, let's challenge stigma, encourage help-seeking, and remind people that support is available.

Every conversation can make a difference.
