🌟 Calling all Cornwall based ADIs 🌟
There’s still time to apply to be a part of the Cornwall Mobility Driving School as it expands to Truro this Summer. Hurry - applications close on Sunday.
We are looking for 5 ADIs to support learners and full licence holders across Cornwall to drive with and without adaptations.
You would be using Cornwall Mobility vehicles with all running costs covered by the project (which is funded by the Motability Foundation).
A top up is paid to hourly rates to compensate for travel – up to £45 per hour!
Full training and ongoing support.
The driving school has been running in Exeter since mid-2025 with great success. This is what ADIs already involved in the project had to say…
"I had been training neurodiverse clients for 18 years and had found it most rewarding to help kids (who were sometimes told they would never achieve anything in life because they were not academically clever) attain their first qualification or one boy whose one ambition was to be a bus driver (now driving the number 12 around Torbay). These are the rewarding test passes that make my job worthwhile and gets me out the house sometimes!
Joining CM expanded my horizons. They have a wealth of experience and knowledge to back me up whenever needed. I also started training clients with various physical disabilities which was an eye-opener for me. I have rarely met so many grateful people, just because I turned up for them.
On the financial side, it is well paid and once you pick up one of their cars it costs you nothing more. Basically, a free car and I am paid to turn up and do my job. Win, win!!.

“I’ve been working with Cornwall Mobility for just over a year now, and at the beginning I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Learning to use the different vehicle adaptations — including hand push braking, hand pull acceleration, steering ball controls, overring acceleration, left foot acceleration, and left foot braking — felt a little daunting at first.
However, once I started working with the clients, everything changed. Getting to know people, understanding their individual challenges, and seeing the positive impact that adapted driving can have on their lives has been incredibly rewarding.
Helping clients regain their independence, confidence, and freedom to get back on the road is one of the most fulfilling parts of the role. For many people, driving means getting a part of their normal life back after overcoming major challenges, and being able to support that journey is something I genuinely enjoy.
I also really value the diversity within the role. Every client is different, every challenge is different, and no two days are ever the same. It’s meaningful work, and I’m proud to be part of helping people move forward with confidence and independence.”
